Question about Dell Inspiron 9300 Notebook

Won't recognize Audio Driver..

My audio-jacks on my Dell Ispiron 9300 notebook were damaged, so my CPU was muted. A friend of mine put in the Creative Audigy 2 Z5 soundblaster in the slot next to the jack so i could plug in headphones and regain the use of sound on my computer....I got a trojan virus and had some "professionals" remove all the poison from my hardrive, in the process of doing so, they had to reload and reboot my operating system (windows XP). I told them to save a few files, including my soundcard, which they failed to do. How do i get my cpu to recognize the driver so that i can once again regain sound?? I tried re-installing the soundblaster that didn"t work..I tried getting the driver off, to no avail... How can i configure this to work again???

not under warantee (bought the computer from a methhead over a year ago), and yes i tried the automatic download. It actually worked for a second, then the mp3 file skipped and my cpu froze-up, now after a restart it won't work again! This is getting almost comical. Thanks for the help Brandy

Have you tried downloading it automatically? check the device manager right click and update driver don't forget to reboot? if your notebook is still under warranty check the condition if dell is going to replace parts or repair your computer for no cost.

Where exactly to put in the speaker jack on a dell inspiron desk top

Look at the back panel. you will find the audio jack. Green marked jack should be the speaker jack.

Audio jacks are located just below the USB and Lan port on the back panel of the CPU box.

My spekaer doesnt is properly connected to the cpu .............speaker problem or OS problem?

check to make sure you are getting power to the speaker system and that the audio jack is plugged into the green jack on your sound card. also open up volume control and make sure its not muted and that it recognizes it. when u turn the volume up if you dont see any green movement on the bar then you have a sound driver issue. go to device manger in xp right click on my computer properties then device manager and see if there is a red or yellow mark on your sound card on vista and win 7 go to my computer then system prop, then device manager.

there are no drivers for the speakers, you need an audio driver installed for you sound card.

Your system will either have an on-board sound card (Sigmatel normally) or a soundblaster expansion audio card. (If the audio jacks are in an expansion slot below the video card, then you have a soundblaster.

Soundblaster drivers are found at

Dell Audio Out cable

Only on a few conditions.

1) either your laptop has HDMI or other premium sound output (coax, optical)
2) you can use USB sound cards (or perhaps PCMCIA/Expresscard) which may output better quality sound

Buzzing sound in Battlefield 2 (PC Game)

check to see if you have the latest audio driver from Dell, as it's sounds as there is a conflict with the game and the audio, click the link for dell drivers on your model. You may have inadvertantly loaded up windows sound drivers from a windows update, that would cause conflict as it's just a generic driver and not a correctly installed audio driver
