Problem for Toshiba Sony CDXM850MP CD Player

Sony CDX-M850MP Remote wont work when front panel closed.

The front panel on my player was not working properly although I could open and close it with the remote and adjust volume etc. The display itself was the only thing that would not work. I purchased another set which was faulty (no audio on 3 speakers) this unit had had the ribbon replaced on it by the previous owner. I set about changing the complete front, a very easy job, and everything went well. When I powered it up all the lights worked and the display worked well. The only problem I have is the remote control will not work with the front panel closed but works perfectly with it open. Would be good to get it working right again, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bill.

The problem is the flexible wire strip that cracked. I just had the same problem. A guy has them on auction on e bay. Type in model number and flexible replacment for search.

Fix by.
1. Unscrewing 2 the two screws that connect faceplate to motorized flip bracked. One on each side.
2. Unscrew the screws that are connected to the back plate. Plate directly behind faceplate with Blue LED.
3.Unclip backplate by sliding Deck out 1 inch. Two clips on each side.
4.Unclip the waferboard/circuit board from the back plate.
5.Remove Flexible wire band that connects the faceplate to backplate.
6.Attach new flexible wire band to deck then to face.
7. Reclip everything, Rescrew everything.

Whalah it is fixed.
