The start/stop button doesn't stay down. You have to hold it the whole time you are trying to push the ice cream too. It seems to liquify almost into a liquid instead of dairy consistency. Is this normal or could it be I'm not filling the chute up entirely? Thanks.

The motor on my ice maker stopped after just a few minutes. After i let it sit for 20 minutes(manufacturers recommendation) i added water to the outside of cannister, and then manually rotated it by hand until it started. It seems that you can't have solid ice and rock salt like it say's, so try a soupy mixture. My ice cream came out perfect after that.
