Question about Pro RX65 Radar Detector

No audio Unit is 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Has worked flawlessly and last Friday the audio has quit. I have reset the volume control countless times and reset every switch/bullon. The visual signal is working fine, dimmer works fine, the display of radar is also working, just "no beep beep Ka band"

    I have the same problem. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT there is no sound or audio of any kind. Seemed to go silent all at once (overnight).

    Unit was calling for calibration periodically, then it lost all audio...

    I had the same problem. What I did was plug in a set of headphones in the headphone jack and the external audio then started working. Kinda strange but it worked.

    Same problem - Update



    I called Bel yesterday and am returning my unit. It is a flat $59.95 rapair which includes recalibration and tuning. Hopefully, it includes the new speaker. This appears to be a growing problem from on this unit...

Hi everyone,

Bel/Escort now uses a special and proprietary "high temp" speaker which resolves issues of speakers blowing due to high ambient temperatures or heat which builds up within the speaker when it is alerting for extended periods of time. If your RX65 is in warranty and you can make a photocopy of your sales receipt, then great! All you have to pay is shipping to Bel. Bell will replace the speaker with the new version, flash your RX65 with whatever the latest firmware is, and calibrate and test your RX65 too. So, all of this is peachy if your RX65 is under warranty.

If your RX65 is out-of-warranty or if it doesn't have a serial number or was bought from a non-authorized dealer, then the service charge as I recall is $80. Thats not bad since your RD will come back working like brand new.

A note about the speakers: They are made by PUI, but the speakers are proprietary to Bel/Escort. Thus you can not buy them from any source -- not even direct from PUI.

Volume / audio control knob


Hi, did you ever get this fixed, if so for how much and where. I have the same problem with my knob, it does not control the volume level but you can still access the other functions that require you to push the knob, like a button. My remote battery is dead so I have not being able to test it, it's just the knob no longer controls the volume.

You did not say if it was running or not.
If not running at all, then it may be the cold control, (thermostat) that has failed. You can remove it, jump the 2 wires going to it, and see if it runs and cools.
If so, you may be able to contact your local appliance parts house for a replacement.
However, if running and not cooling, then 2 options.
1. If under 5 years, sealed system should be under warrant. Call your selling dealer for details.'
2. If over 5 years, not price effective.

Kenwood TS50 - Max volume gives very low audio while receiving


It sound like a bad reostat in the volume control. if its under warranty send unit back to kenwood and have them replace the volume control, and possible speaker involvement.

I have had trouble with the volume adjustment for my alpine (TDA 7552), its old i know, so i dug out the remote control to use and it doesn't appear to be working even after a new battery. could it be a...


The remote that came with this unit does not last long and breaks down very fast. Alpine has a new equivalent replacement that you can order from a dealer that will work with this unit. For the volume control, yes they do wear out with time. Cleaning it with very high quality contact cleaner like DeOxit helps for a while but the problem comes back because the mechanical contacts simply wear out. A new volume control can still be ordered if you look hard. I think pac parts can get them. You would need a technician to open up the detachable face and unsoldered the old control and solder in the new one if you can't do it yourself. After that it works like new.

I own the same unit (since 2001) & have had no problems. I would get it looked at & see what the issue is & what it would cost to fix. Would it be worthwhile? Well you'd have to ask yourself how much $$ you'd be willing to spend on a replacement vs repairing this unit & based on how much you'd be willing to spend, would the specs on a replacement unit measure up. You'd have to ignore things like HDMI inputs to keep it apples to apples.

I've owned various Sony components for a long time. I only had to get one unit fixed one time (a CD player that my one year old decided to do a chin-up on :( ). The unit was 7 years old at the time and my son is now 12!!. the unit still functions flawlessly since being repaired. Sony builds their stuff to last, even after beiung abused.

It keeps goin to protectin mode


Well I have an Onyyo TS SV515 Pro II receiver that is quite a few years old. I have lived in several houses and have moved it with me. For as long as I can remember it has been going into 'protect mode' when I turned it over 6 on the volume knob. I have a subwoofer and 4 infinite speakers and a yamaha center channel speaker.
I got on the internet the today to see if I could figure out why it did this. One person suggested cutting my speaker wires and resplicing it making sure no hanging wires where there.
I had been using the same speaker wire since I puchased it (10 yrs ago). I feel pretty stupid, cause I just did the wires to my front 2 Infinite speakers and WaLa...It works flawlessly. I can now turn up my receiver...after 10 years of dealing with no 'full' volume.
