Go inside the dryer and get a wet rag. Clean the gookus off the sensors moted on the rear wall. 2 long skinny metal thinga majigs. If **** is on them they won't sense wetness. Also check the dryer vent for a blockage of lint. The fuse will blow but the console will still light up. whirlpool dryer - 44813f6.jpg

Whirlpool Cabrio dryer won't start - the sensing light stays on

An EXTREMELY helpful technical guide is folded inside the console housing.
WARNING: It is for appliance techs, DO NOT do the voltage/resistance checks if you are not well-versed in troubleshooting appliances! BUT, it does include putting the dryer in diagnostics mode and checking the sensors.
Post back any error codes you may get.

My Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQS has power, but won't start when the button is depressed. The sensing light comes on, but the dryer doesn't start. Any ideas?

It's probably either the start switch or door switch. Try bypassing the switch and see if it starts. If it does, you can either replace the switch or try taking it apart and fixing the switch yourself. (I had a switch that simply required a copper contact to be readjusted and its worked perfectly for several years)
