Question about Zoom (5590-00-03) Wireless Router (G66115)
I have Pack Bell Laptop, R4630, which connects fine to the internet through ethnet but cannot connect to the internet via wlan. I have taken the laptop to my girlfriends house, who also has sky broadband. My laptop will not connect to her network either. Which leads me to believe that it is a problem with how the laptop is configured. The laptop connects to the router and has excellent signal strength. The router is 3ft away. The laptop then tends to disconnect and then reconnect to the router every few minutes. I have tried renewing the IP Address and manually assinging one but to no avail. I have tried disabling the McAfee but this still does not allow me to connect to the internet. I had disabled windows firewall but this has no effect also. I have tried to differ the the encryption from WPA to WEP but this also has no effect. My brother can connect wirelessly from his laptop and connect to the internet which is even more frustating that his works no problem. I have tried IPCONFIG/ALL, IPCONFIG/ RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW but this also has no effect. I even doubted that the laptop was even wireless that is fow frustated it has become. I called SKY Help but they say call manufacturer. I call packcard bell and it cost £1.00 a minute and I have a feeling those "£$%$£" will string out the call for as long as poss which I can't afford with Xmas around the corner.So phones goes down. I have even tried to reinstalling the drivers, from Pack bell website, for wlan but this does not work. I am at my wits end, spent close to nearly 50hrs trying to amend this problem. Please, Please, Please can someone help resolve this issue and you will have my eternal thanks!
The only thing that seems to be missing here is did you try another wireless card? If its built in you can get a usb wifi or pcmcia type. That will probably get you back online via wifi.
