LCD shows Low O/P V

I turn on the UPS without anything connected to it. It stays a few seconds on "On Line" then it changes to Low O/P V

What can be the problem?

They say that changing some optocoupler right down the PCB solves this. Any comments?

Fault: Low Ouput Voltage

Cause: Surge Taken by load / Short Circuit on load / Fault in inverter

Remedy: Remove load and restart UPS / Try a different load / Repair or swap out

If you need spares or price for repair contact Eaton Power Quality Ltd - the new name for Powerware - 01753 608700

Hi to All
I had the same issue where the UPS started (loaded or not) and immediately sounded an alarm with Low O/P V and it tripped the breaker at the mains. Tried starting the UPS with no power to the device as well (cold start) with no success.
I removed all batteries to reset the UPS and powered up again, same thing happened.
I then moved the UPS without any batteries to another power point in my home (different breaker on the mains) and device booted with "DC bus Fault"
Powered everything down, loaded all the batteries and it booted up 100%!!! So it turned out to be the breaker for that location... Worth a try and will save you allota tom!

Changing the battery

If your Tripp LIte Omni 1000 LCD display a fault icon and beeps after changing the battery, try the advice given by the buzzerman which worked perfect in this case:

1. Turn the UPS on. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.

2. Run a Self-Test: Press and hold the MUTE/TEST button for two seconds (until beeps several times). The test will last 10 seconds. All LCD Display icons will be illuminated and the alarm will sound. At the end of this process the fault icon and the beeping turned off.

Automatic: The UPS performs a self-test automatically when turned on, and every

two weeks thereafter (by default). During the self-test, the UPS briefly operates the

connected equipment on battery.
Manual: Press and hold the button for a few seconds to initiate the self-test

REPLACE BATTERY LED ILLUMINATES

Replace Battery LED flashes and

short beep is emitted every two

seconds to indicate the battery is

disconnected.

Check that the battery connectors are fully engaged.

Weak battery. Allow the battery to recharge for 24 hours. Then, perform a self-test. If the

problem persists after recharging, replace the battery.

Failure of a battery self-test. The UPS emits short beeps for one minute and the Replace Battery LED

illuminates. The UPS repeats the alarm every five hours. Perform the self-test

procedure after the battery has charged for 24 hours to confirm the Replace

Battery condition. The alarm stops and the LED clears if the battery passes the
self-test.

A battery showing 12V without a load attached means nothing. You probably have one or more weak cells and they simply cannot supply enough power. I would try a new battery before I try anything else.

My Samsung 42" LCD used to turn on quickly, now it takes a LONG time for the screen to show anything. It looks like it turns on, turns off, turns on, etc. 7-8 times before finally staying on--almost like...

Ageing capacitors usually causes this sort of problem. They change value going low capacity etc. A replacement flourecent display board may likely fix it as the display is taking too long to come on.

Tripp Lite OMNI 1000 LCD will not stay on

Turn UPS on: Press and hold the ON/OFF button for one second.
Run a Self-Test: Press and hold the MUTE/TEST button for two seconds (until alarm beeps several times).
The test will last 10 seconds. All LCD Display icons will be illuminated and the alarm will sound.
If the fault icon remains lit, the battery-supplied outlets are overloaded. Unplug powered devices until you remove the overload.
If the "Replace" icon remains lit and alarm continues to sound, the UPS batteries need to be recharged or replaced. Allow UPS to charge for 24 hours and repeat self-test.

TV turn on for few seconds then turn off.

This TV has a network of diodes connected to a PROTECT-1 line monitored by the control IC. If any circuit pulls this line low, the control IC turns the system OFF. The diodes act to isolate all the circuits from each other, its called a diode-OR circuit.
You can troubleshoot by opening a diode which disconnects a circuit from pulling the line low. I had a hunch the EL backlight board was bad, so after opening that protect line the power stayed ON.

I found a bad .068uF 250V cap on the transformer primary, it measured .002uF. I've replaced the cap and the other two on the other transformers just for good measure.

It probably took more time than the TV is worth, but my friend's Mom will be happy, and thats worth it.
I hope this helps, look around for the service manual, it can be found online.
