Question about Philips Televison & Video
I bought a refurbished Philips LCD TV 32PF5331 about 18 months ago.When I bought the TV it wasn't working properly, for every 20 times I turned on the TV, there would be one occasion where the sound would come on but no picture.I didn't return the TV because a £90 delivery charge to Ireland would have been required !!The situation has since got much worse. Now to get the picture on I might have to turn the TV on and off about 5 to 10 times.Is there anything that can be done or is just the sign that something terminal is about to occur and I might as well just get used to that idea.The on / off but on the side is stuck (As it was when I received it refurbished) but I just leave the TV on standby so this is not so important.Any ideas please ?John Owen

First, Have your tv 's circuitry be resoldered. this might be a case of loose contacts particularly along the crt circuitry. the longer you operate the unit at this condition, the faster you are counting the possibility of shortening the lifespan of your tube. 9 years is quite a young age for a unit which has an average of 18years.

A service technician arrived at my home this morning and infromed me that 13 blinks indicates a bad LCD panel. His quote to repair it was approximately $500 more than the TV initially cost. I contacted Sony support directly, and they have agreed to replace the TV, since it is less than 30 days out of warranty. The KDL40V3000 has apparently been dicontinued so they are replacing with a KDL40V4100(factory reconditioned). I know this won't necessarily help others with the same problem, but if your warranty ended recently enough they will probably work with you to mitigate the expense.
