Question about Gateway Solo 5300 Notebook
The lcd power light comes on but the laptops monitor screen remains blank and will not boot--before this offured the desktop would not stretch the entire screen it would only remain in the center no matter how I tried to adjust the display, and also the display would go blank and I would have to move the monitor back and forth before the screen would reappear---
It sounds like a loose wire. If you are out of waurantee open it up and see if there is a wire that has come loose. Only it you feel comfortable, doing this. First check the connectors on the side and make sure the vga/dvi, is not loose. If you are going to end up paying a tech to fix it, then it would be worth your while to open it up and give it a shot. Let me know if you want to do that, and we can go through what's needed. good luck, by the way is this XP or Vista? and if you go into the properties, settings, advanced, desktop, is the desktop set to stretch or center or tile?
