Question about Kirby Ultimate G Bagged Upright Vacuum

Kirby creating dirt under carpet?

My Kirby seems to work too well. Since we got our vacuum we have been getting lumps in our carpet, mostly in the high traffic areas. We pulled part of the carpet up too see what the problem was and found that the bumps were piles of dirt! It seems the Kirby is trying to **** up dirt from the subfloor, but the dirt can't go through the carpet pad so it just forms piles. Does any one with a Kirby have a similar problem? Is it our vacuum or the carpet, or just a dirty subfloor? Is there anything we can do about it!

Thanks for the try, but that is how I have always adjusted my Kirby from the start. Any other ideas?

I don't have a Kirby Vacuum, however I have been having the same problem with my Kenmore, which is a really good vacuum. The lumps were so big that I thought that my subfloor was warped.

It is possible that the height adjustment on your Kirby is to close to the carpet, which could account for the problem you're having. The correct height adjustment for your Kirby is this-Lower the height adjustment down until you hear a change in the sound, then adjust one more click down. The Kirby is at the correct height for cleaning. If the carpet is different in another room, adjust it the same way for each carpet

This is unused shampoo attachment. We buy new parts and assemble this shampoo attachment so you will be the first one to use it.
Set includes:
  1. Tray with shield
  2. Nozzle
  3. Brush roll
  4. Belt
  5. Container with cap
  6. Hose
  7. 12 oz. shampoo
NOTE - pictured Kirby Sentria shampooer box may not be included.
If you have never used this shampoo, we highly recommend reading our ONLINE MANUAL. This is a simple but very effective unit but you have to learn how to use it and "common sense" will not be enough! HOW TO - V I D E O S

Tank with soapy solution is attached in place of the bag. It utilizes the air coming out of the exhaust to blow soapy water on a small screen that turns it into thick foam. The foam is simply laid over the carpet (you must vacuum before you shampoo). Foam allows the spread of a small amount of water over the area so carpet is not soaked all the way through. Foam is left on the carpet for a few minutes so it has just enough time to moisten the fibers of the carpet and loosen the dirt (not too long otherwise foam may dry). Then foam maker is set to "OFF" and you slowly pull Kirby vacuum over the area where you laid the foam. The rotating brush in the shampooer nozzle rubs the moisture off carpet fibers and and throws it into the tray in front of the unit. You will not see gallons of dirty water but that is because you did not put it on the rug in the first place. Carpet should dry within 1-4 hours (depends how many times you laid the foam and what is humidity in the room). After it dries it has to be vacuumed. Solution that did not get picked up with the shampooer brush dries and shampoo additives do not let the dirt stick back to the fibers of the carpet. It is loose when it dries so in order to pick up what is left, you must vacuum again.
Shampoo:
You can use any carpet shampoo sold in your local store but make sure that this is carpet shampoo that makes foam and pay attention how much you have to dilute it with water as various shampoo products come in different concentration. Avoid using "just anything" that makes foam. Some household chemicals (such as dishwasher fluid) will do great job but it will leave carpet unprotected so dirt will stick to it so well that you will have a filthy rug in no time. Need Kirby Generation 3 Vacuum cleaner manual. Vacuum is not picking up dirt from floor. Seems to have enough suction to inflate the bag, but when you check the suction under the vacuum, there seems to...

If your brush roll is turning and your bag is not overly full, then the only other thing it can be is a clog where the bag connects to the vacuum. Turn the plastic part out away from vacuum and lift off to see if you have something clogging it. It would have to be something big, but not so big that it could not get past the fan. As a rule of thumb, KIRBY never clogs. I suspect that your belt is stretched out and your brush roll is not turning while on the carpet so the brush roll is just in the way rather than brushing your carpet to pick up dirt.

Carpet head on Kirby upright is stuck up high

Remove the nozzle and remove the front wheel shaft. Take these 2 screws out.

When doing so - watch for the spring that is under the top pedal, do not let it fly out of window. If you will find that shaft is bent buy and install a new shaft (you can find all parts HERE). You may try to straighten it but usually it doe not last long - wheel ***** falls off and you have to buy new shaft anyway. If shaft seems to be ok - clean old grease and dirt, lubricate well the pedal teeth and assemble everything back. This should solve the problem. Occasionally spring may be broken but this happens very rarely.

Good Luck,

I can not get the Kirby vacuum to **** up the foam after I lay it

Few things to watch for.
1. Do not leave the foam on the rug for too long (2-5 minutes max) - long enough for rug to absorb it. This is why I would recommend doing carpet in sections.
2. If the carpet is really dirty or/and old - sometimes dirt breaks down the foam so fast that you will not get much (if anything) from the carpet. New carpets are treated with dirt repellents so fiber does not absorb the water and dirt does not stick to carpet easily. On old carpets this treatment is worn off so fibers absorb moisture very easily and there is not much you can do. You may wash it to get it as clean as you can, let it dry, vacuum and then use KirbyGuard to restore protection, but you decide if it is worth the effort considering that some stains will never come out.

Good Luck

My G series kirby carpet cleaner will not **** up the water or foam very well

The Kirby shampooer deposits the foam onto carpet, and works it into the carpet with the shampooer brushroll. After the carpet is dry,use the vacuum itself to pick up the dry foam and dirt. The Kirby Shampooer is not an extraction shampooer

Kirby Ultimate won't clean carpet

when you install the hose connector it trips a switch that switches the vac motor into high speed because the vac path is longer using the hose. check the belt after you remove the front. make sure the direction of rotation is in the direction of belt travel stamped in the impeller. try adjusting the head height
