Question about Maytag MFD2561HE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

Can I use a bulb-to-3 prone adaptor to power a chest freezer?

I bought a chest freezer. It is about 14-18 cubic foot capacity. I put it in a room that does not have a 3 prong wall outlet. I bought a set of adaptor that can connect to a bulb socket and provide a 3-prong outlet.
The maximum capacity of the adaptor says 660watt. I don't know if this is enough for the freezer. I could not find any information on the power (i.e. the watts of the freezer). Can you estimate the power in watts of the chest freezer by its volume (14-18 cubic ft).

Thank you

Bao

How to calculate cubic feet of a fridge

simple maths
33.5 x 19.75 x 20.25 = 13397.9063 cubic inches
then divide that by how many cubic inches in a cubic foot

13397.9063 / 1728 = 7.75341797 cubic feet.

obviously that depends on whether the sizes you have given are the internal or external measuresments and what furniture there is inside the freezer i.e wire racks/shelves but i suspect that this is a chest style freezer.
Alternativly you can look on the data plate which will give you the capacity.

Example 1: 60 inches tall, 42 inches wide, 30 inches deep = 75600/1728 = 43.75 Cubic Foot AREA
Example 2: fREEZER dIMS = 24 DEEP x 18 HIGH x 36 WIDE =15552/1728 is 9 CuFt. Refridgerator 36 wide, 36 high 28 deep = 36,288/1728 = 21 CuFt. + 9 CuFt. = 30 Cubic Foot Capacity.

My brand new freezer wont freeze

I would plug it into a different plug in - not one that is on the same circuit that it is plugged into now. If the plug in is working for other things, it still may be bad and not able to handle the load of the freezer. If your freezer will not work on a completely different circuit, then there could be something wrong with the freezer, but it is not likely since two of them should not be bad. Seems to me more like an electrical problem in your location. Hope this helps you, Rick

That would depend on the size of the freezer. If it's a compact 5-7 cubic feet, then its not necessarily needed, but if it is a large freezer I would recommend buying the hose adapter. The basic function for the hose adapter is draining the water after defrosting the freezer.

So if it's a large freezer that will not be moved, then YES by all means, you need the adapter.
