My MFC-665CW shows message "Unable to print 50" & no longerprints

My sister used my printer and left me with a puzzeling message on my printer-screen that says, ( Unable to print 50 ! ) and every since then,...the message will not be removed and my printer will NOT print anything for me while this message exists on the screen. It has NO paper-jams. I Un-Plugged Unit for a couple days and then restarted it. I went into General - Setup and also into Initial Set-up, and NOTHING seems to get rid of this message, AND will NOT let me Print-Off ANYTHING at all. Each time I press the "STOP" button, the "Unable to Print 50" Message; goes OFF for One Minute, then comes and stays on, Permanently. How can I fix the problem ????

MFC-665cw unable to print 50

Did you have a paper jam before this happened? If yes then the paper must have pushed the encoder strip out of alignment.

hen you open the printer so that you can see the print head, move the print head with your hands, pull it to the middle. The space immediately to the front of the printer is blocked by the plastic shield. you can curl your fingers down under this shield. you will feel the encoder strip, which is about 8 mm wide, and is a plastic ribbon, or strip. It runs from left side to right side across the printer, in a vertical orientation. This is the encoder strip. Past this you can feel a longer rubber belt, which is about 3 mm wide. This is not the encoder strip, it is a belt and you don't need to be concerned with this.

Place your fingers on the encoder strip on either side of the print head, and flex it, bending it up and slightly back and then release it. Try this several times. Do this with power on. Once the encoder strip is back into it's slot the printer will start a cleaning cycle and start working.

Im getting unable to print 50 error on my brother mfc 665cw

The paper jam you had probably lifted the long, thin, plastic encoder strip out of its slot. It is making the printer think paper is still jammed. Try gently pushing the strip back into the slot. You might have to use a screwdriver or other thin instrument to get to the strip.
Be sure printer is off when you do this.

Unable to print 30 or 50

the encoder strip is probably out of its socket. its a long mylar strip that goes from one side to the other, and goes underneath the printhead.

Did you have a paper jam before this happened? If yes then the paper must have pushed the encoder strip out of alignment. You will need to turn off the printer and then push it back into slot to fix it. Let me know if you need more help. Sai.

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
