Gateway laptop 450ROG video issue when using a projector

I have a Gateway 450rog laptop with Windows XP Pro. I have it on a docking station with a monitor connected. When I try to do a presentation on a projector with the laptop and set it to show the presentation on the laptop as well as the projector I get a very dark and fuzzy screen on the projector. If I have the presentation show on the projector only it is normal can view it with no distortion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the video driver did not work. The laptop works correctly on a montior even if it is showing on the montior and the laptop. This only happens when i connect to a projector and choose the option to show on the projector and my laptop. I have even connected the docking station to the projector and then connected the laptop to the docking station still have the same result when I show on the laptop and the projector it is dark and distorted on the projector but the laptop view is normal.

I was troubleshooting a little more with it yesterday and it happens on any projector I connect to. This is an issue I have never encountered before with a laptop.

Honestly from the information you have listed it sounds like the issue is with your projector, not your laptop. If your laptop was having display issues it would be consistent on anything it was attempting to output display to, such as your monitor.

The projector sounds like its out of focus and possibly has a bad back light in it, I would suggest contacting the manufacture for a possible resolution.

Intel wireless drivers for Gateway 450ROG

Recently ran into an issue where someone did not have all the original materials for their laptop. One of the issues was the wireless NIC acting up. The drivers were kind of a pita to locate so I figured I'd post a link here to the Intel drivers.

I need Network Controller and Ethernet COntroller drivers for my Gateway 450ROG, running OS XP SP3.

Go to Gateway.com and in the search type in 450ROG. At the top of the list you will see Gateway 450ROG, click on it. Now click on software information and then Windows XP. You should now see a list of software drives. A little better than halfway down the list you will see Network - Intel PRO/100 V..... click on this. You will now see how to install this driver from you system disk (provided with the laptop).

If you do not have the disk, then follow the link below directly to intels web site for download. The reason I posted the link, finding it was a lot more steps than I would like to type up here.

Go into Start / control panel / sounds / and see if any drivers are showing, if not then re-install, Go to vendors site to download driver for your laptop.

Just remembered little tip, can you see the speaker at lower right of screen, if not driver may not be there especially if it was before.
