Like the blue color is gone and see a double image now

The set is 5.5 yrs old. While watching it went just like that and now I see a double image and seems like it is missing the blues. In other words everything is showing in reds and greens. I had a 5 year extended warranty without any issues. Any ideas as to what I need to do?
Thanks

You should have a TV repairman look at your set to see if you have a bad tube in the set, It might just be a convergence ishue, if thats the case it might be worth fixing.

Hooked up PS3 to system and when watching DVD's the right side of the picture is blurry and appears doubled, like an old 3D movie without the red and blue glasses. When watching TV everything looks fine.

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Hi, It sounds like your lcd chip has gone bad this is how your technology works ;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 lcd chips that create the image and colors by blending together. When they start to go bad you will get color distortion, color halo, spots even lines. You will need to replace the light engine.I suggested to contact you manufacturer to see if they can fix it at no charge since this is a common problem and even where in a law suit because of that problem.

JVC AV-56WP74 Colors quit working or went out of balance.

Guns or CRT are probably ok. Your TV needs a convergence IC STK392-120 replacement. Lamp are used on LCD and DLP rear projection TV's. Color wheel are for DLP's. :)

DOUBLE IMAGE

Convergence system overhaul cost about $400. No mfr. warranty after 90 days to a year unless you bought an xtended warranty for up to 5 yrs. Good set, worth keeping. Senior tech only== careful soldering needed+ OEM or better quality parts a must.
