I have the same problem. The "Device Ownership Password" is numeric only and is limited to 8 characters? I set up the router and have no idea what the DOP is? Does anyone know?

I have a Dell and have used it all over the world and until I purchased a new Linksys WRT310N wireless router, I had no problems. With this new router I am asked to input a "device ownership" password. There are two ways, at least, to fix this. One, is to tell the Intel wireless NIC to stop asking for this information, the other is to give it what it wants.

Option 1.
On the PC open the control panel (these are XP instructions), open add/remove programs, find "Intel PROSet/Wireless Software" and click on Change/Remove. When the installer opens, select "Modify." When the modify window opens, you're looking for "WiFi protected setup" and you want to chose the "do not install" option. This will remove the pesky feature after hit "modify" and then reboot.

Option 2.
Use the feature as intended. Log into the router. Goto wireless->basic wireless settings and make sure WiFi Protected Setup radio button is seleted. Instructions are displayed. You want to look at item 3. The password you're looking for is there. Entering this password on your PC when asked to do so during network connection should solve the problem. This is theoretical because I chose option 1.

When i try to connect to my wireless network it ask for device ownership password. What does that mean

Hi britnatale,
If you go to Control Panel, select "Remove/Change" on the Intel wireless, then select "Modify" and "Next" you'll then have access to the installed settings. From here, uninstall/unselect "Single Sing On" and WiFi Protection. These will turn off the prompt.

Hope it works for you.

WRT54G2 wired desktop fine, can't connect to wireless.

Hi Seth6025,

Try without using Wireless Encryption (password).

Try changing channels; default is 6; try 1 or 11.
Change your SSID: personalize it
SSID broadcast: Enable

Check the advanced wireless settings and make sure MAC filtering - DISABLED.

Reset the Linksys router by pressing RESET for 30 seconds should everything fails and re-configure. Firmware is another consideration BUT this is just a new release.

I cant access my router is the router's Ip address which will take to you to its ADMIN console. Defualt username is: admin and password is: password or admin. Try these. Once logged in you can then configure the router as required. Dont forget to set the WEP key to make your wireless network secure. WRT54G2 is the name of your router which is sending you the request to fill in the login details.

Printer not detected with Wrt54g2

Fixed it. I saw another post by someone, who had detailed step-by-step the setup proceedure with regrds to wireless. First, make sure printer is connected via USB to PC and everything works.

Next on printer, select settings, then device settings and Reset all network settings.

Next, run the CD-rom, select region, and then select Easy install when main menu appears.

Nest select only the most essential drivers, MP drivers and the Canon IJ Network tool. Select & reinstall the MP driver (main driver) and Canon IJ network solution tool.

Once they are installed. Run the Network IJ tool program, follow the setup to activate wireless.

This is how my MP620 finally worked.

Hope this makes sense.

4>You"ll see a router setup page opening up
5>On the left hand side under wireless you"ll see security
6> Click on that you"ll see a 10 digit or 26 digit no if it wep security or a password if it is wpa .
