Question about Nikon N50 35mm SLR Camera

Open Question

Err message Hi, I am getting an ERR message after I take a picture. In addition, at times the flash symbol apprears on my LCD screen, even though the flash is on. The lens seems to focus ok, and makes no unusual sounds. The ERR message flashes for about 10 seconds, and then goes away until I take another picture. I have the manual, and have tried without success to figure out the problem myself. Thank you Jessica Gerber

SOURCE: error message

Hey there deliafuentes, I would suggest you check your film to ensure it is seated correctly and fed across to the orange line inside the winding post on the right side of the open back of the camera. If this is not the problem, I would check the settings to ensure you are not in a protection mode which will prevent you from snapping a picture which is not properly focused or without the necessary light required. Try turning off the auto features to test the possibility. Another option is the batteries may have insuffient power to drive the features which you are using. Switch to a new set, preferrably not rechargeable or generic. Good Luck!

Will not tke picture an err message flash at top of screen

Hi anotherie14, the ERR is not a good thing. Try a factory reset found on page 129 of the manual. On the left side of the camera is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector is the reset switch. If that does not work then it will need to go to Nikon.

Fuji s1, when I power up I get "Err" message on top LCD screen. Batteries are all freshly new.

"Err" message relates to the batteries.
If constantly lit, It's the AA batteries. When flashing, it's the lithium batteries. It can also be the tiny switch in the media door. Try activating it gently with a pointy object to see if the message disappears.

Canon 450D, ERROR 99 only when flash pops up

Err 99 usually means your lens contacts are dirty either on the lens itself or on the camera.

To isolate the cause of the issue, do the following: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert only a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, the camera may be faulty and requires a service. If it does not, then: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

Does the “ERR 99" message appear? If so, then the CF card is faulty. Try a different card. If the message does not appear: -
1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the gold contacts on the lens by GENTLY rubbing them with a pencil eraser or soft cloth. Keeping the camera face pointing down, also clean the gold contacts on the camera, being careful that you do not let any debris fall into the camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.
5. Depress the shutter button as you would to take a picture.

If the “ERR 99" message only appears when one particular lens is attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.
If you see the “ERR 99" with a different Canon lens attached, then the camera is faulty and should be serviced.

Err min Message

This can happen if you are using a non-G lens, without the lens aperture being set to the minimum aperture and locked.

Err message on my S2 Pro

Try removing the lens, the memory card, and the lithium batteries. With freshly charged AA batteries, turn the camera on. If it comes on without the "err" message in that case, your problem lies with the memory card, the lens, or the lithium batteries. Turn off the camera and add these things until you encounter the problem again.

For a lens, check to make sure the electronic contacts are clean and that the lens gets fully twisted into place, and that if there is an aperture lock, that the aperture is set to the smallest possible aperture (22 or 16, usually).

For the memory card, reformat it elsewhere if it is causing problems. The Fuji S2 is notorious for being picky about memory cards.

Lithium batteries that are slightly run-down can cause all sorts of issues. Your S2 doesn't need to use lithium batteries, except for the built-in flash. You can add an extra AA battery pack to replace the lithium batteries, and that will improve the camera's reliability.
