Smoke care from the wiring between fan and light

My 52 inch fan has been installed and working fine for over a year when smoke began coming from the box between the light and the fan. I disconnected it and saw that the (plastic) capacitor was beginning to melt. I removed the capacitor and the nearby electrical supply store does not carry anything like it. Because the plastic has begun to melt I cannot read the identication on the capacitor except fot something that looks like: 3 @ FU; Red, Yellow and purple ; 250AC; /60HZ C+- 5% and max temp 70(degrees) C If you can direct me as to how I may buy a new capacitor will it be okay and safe to just repalce it and put the unit back together and try to run it again?

I have just installed a new receiver and remote in my 52 inch fan.tested it all worked. later that night my wife tried turning on the light and the remote came up with light symbol with a 100% behind it,...

Might need a new receiver.Did you hook up the receiver hot. If your fan came with pull chains, undo your light wire from the fan and wire nut it to house hot. This will tell you if your light is OK or if it is the receiver.

My control won't activate the light on my Hunter fan. The light comes on via pull chain fine, and the control works the 3 speeds on the fan, but the light won't respond.

Check the wiring on your receiver to make sure the light wire is connected. You have to have the light on with the pull chain and then use the remote to turn it on/off.

Lights filicker on and off. Weather the fan is on or not. All wiring is good.

for the lights, open up, remove watt governor then rewire. should take care of flickering. but turn power off first ! after removing. hook white wire to white wire and black wire to red wire, this is the power or hot wire. it is a black box shape.

4 month old Hunter 52". After install, when you turned on the tulip lights that came with it, they would come on bright, then dim about 20%. Recently, when the light was turned on, they would blink...

Your problem is you are using too much wattage for your fan. You can solve this one of two ways. Put in lower wattage light bulbs (per your manufacturer recommendations) The other is to remove the wattage governor. There should be 3 screws holding your light assembly on. Remove these screws then disconnect the white rectangular plug in connector (this is what connects the fan wiring to the light assembly wiring). At this point you should be free to take the light assembly to a table. Follow the light pull chain wires from inside. One of these wires will lead to a black box that has 1 black wire, 1 red wire and 2 white wires. Remove this black box...this is the wattage governor. Remove by cutting the 2 white wires as close to the box as you can, peel back the insulation and use a wire nut to connect the 2 white wires together. Remove the wire nut on the black wire from the switch to this black box. Now you have one red wire left and your bare black wire from the switch. You will remove the red wire and put the bare black wire from the switch in it's place. Throw the wattage regulator in the trash and install you light assembly back to the fan. It will no longer blink but you should still use the recommended wattage light bulbs to prevent overheating.

Our Hunter Fan and Light with remote has been installed for over 1 year. It has always had the 'ghost' problem where it will randomly turn itself on or off but we have been able to live with that. Last...

Your ghost problem was probably due to a loose connection. The wire has probably come completely loose or the heat from the loose connection has damaged the relay.

Oven was heating and we got HEAVY smoke....

Nothing in the elements, thermostat thermocouples are gas filled, sensors have wiring inside, nothing in the liner or insulation. You said this was a stove, and some stoves have a vent that goes up through one of the burners on the top. If you had oil splatter or drip into this it can get into your oven. We do know that some blower fans on convection ovens have a sealed oil bearing, but there would be very little oil coming out of this (drops) and you will notice your fan getting noisier or running slower in the near future.
