Question about Toshiba Satellite A135 Notebook

Used Recovery Disk and I have an application error

Hi - I am trying to restore my computer Toshiba Satellite A135 and used the disc Toshiba Recovery & Applications/Drivers DVD. When I ran the disc an application error came up and this is exactly what it said:

Application Error 29005

Write sector failure,result=1,drive =128,sectors 88711 to 88775.

My computer also said that I have missing files or corrupted files.

I have no idea where to go from here. Do I need to take it to a shop or maybe I can fix it on my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

It seems like your hard drive has some bad sectors.

You need to run some disk manager software to check/fix tour disk.

The best choice would be to download the "ultimate cd" from here

Boot from the cd, go to "hard disk tools" and select a disk manager (better to select the one from the same manufacturer of the disk).

Run a scan, and fix the drive (if it is possible). Then rerun your system restore cd again.

If the hard drive can't be fixed, you'll have to replace it before running the system retore.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Application error when running recovery disk

hi

Did you create any partitions on the HDD?
Obviously the HDD or some partitions on the HDD are corrupt.
In my opinion, you should firstly try to format the whole HDD and delete also whole partitions.
Then insert the recovery CD and try to install the Toshiba image

How to restore a toshiba satellite a135-s2286 notebook without cd?

the f8 function is only to try and remedy boot problems. the recovery option you're getting is to restore if you have already made recovery discs.
if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive you should be able to access it when you boot up. before starting your laptop press and hold 0(zero) key and power on the laptop. once it starts you should get a screen with 3 options then choose option 1 to get back to factory restore.

I cant fint my system recover drive, i want to reinstall visat on it, its toshibe satellite A135-S4427 please help

Most Toshiba computers do _NOT_ come with a set of "System Recovery" disks.

Instead, there is a program installed on the computer that you use to write your own set of CD/DVD diskettes, using your "blank" disks and your CD/DVD burner. Run the program to create a set of disks.

Or, when you restart your computer, look for displayed text like "press Fnn to start System Recovery". Press the named key.

I need the hardrive drivers mk1637gsx 160 HD SATA

Theres no such thing as Hard Drive Drivers

Restore disks are created to only work with the default hard drive that came with the laptop. Even if you bought an exact replacement it still wouldnt work as the restore discs looks for the unique serial number of the hard drive and therefore prevents people from using the recovery discs on other toshiba systems or non toshiba systems.

Id suggest borrowing another windows installation disc and using the key on the certificate of authencity on the bottom f the laptop to activate. You might have to ring microsoft to activate it but just explain whats happened and it should all go ok.

Looking for wireless on switch on laptop

Right Side, underneath your volume control. If it is switched on and still cant access the internet wireless give this a try.

Use Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs utility to uninstall the Toshiba Hotkey Utility, and then reinstall it.
This program is called E-Key Utility on the Toshiba Satellite M30X/M35X Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD. It's called Toshiba E-Key Utility for Windows XP on the Toshiba Support website.

Unistalling the Toshiba Hotkey Utility:
  1. Click Start.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  4. Select TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility.

  5. Click Change/Remove.

  6. Click OK to confirm that you wish to completely remove the selected application and its features. The InstallShield Wizard will begin the removal process.

  7. Click Finish to exit the InstallShield Wizard.
Re-installing the Toshiba Hotkey Utility using the Toshiba Satellite M30X/M35X Series Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD that shipped with the computer:
  1. Insert the Toshiba Satellite M30X/M35X Series Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD into the CD/DVD drive and close the tray. The setup program on the DVD should start automatically.

  2. When the Toshiba Recovery and Applications CD window appears, verify that "Install applications and drivers" is the selected install type, and click Next.

  3. Select E-key Utility from the list, and click Install.

  4. When the WinZip Self-Extractor window appears, click OK.

  5. Click Unzip.

  6. Click OK to acknowledge that the files were successfully unzipped.

  7. When the InstallShield window appears, click Next and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

  8. When the installation is complete, click Exit and then OK to close the Toshiba Recovery and Applications CD window.

  9. Remove the Toshiba Satellite M30X/M35X Series Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD from the optical drive and close the tray.
Reinstalling the Toshiba Hotkey Utility using the file downloaded from the Toshiba Support website:
  1. Download the Toshiba E-key Utility for Windows XP from the Toshiba Support website, and save it to your computer. See also the bulletin Obtaining downloads and support docs from the Toshiba Support website.

  2. Navigate to where you saved the file and double-click it.

  3. Click Run.

  4. When the WinZip Self-Extractor window appears, click OK.

  5. Click Unzip.

  6. Click OK to acknowledge that the files were successfully unzipped.

  7. When the InstallShield window appears, click Next and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

When you hit F12 or whatever F key to go to the boot drive menu, make sure the cd is in and that you select CD/DVD Drive and the dvd should prompt you to hit any key or will automatically start loading for the recovery. Just tell me if you need further assistance.
