Question about Apple MacBook Pro Notebook
The bottom of the computer case gets extremely hot after running a short period of time
I'd check the activity monitor...(in utilities short cut shift apple A). See if anything is causing a problem.
Select all processes at the top
If you sort by the CPU column and something is running at a really high percentage then that's where your problem lies. First of all I'd Quit that process and then look for incompatibility issues with your current OS version (under about this mac)
My printer driver caused all sort of problems and caused over heating mac and very short battery life.

THis is normal. It is based on the amount of CPU being used. If you are running a lot of apps or CPU intensive apps then it will run hot. If you use Cmd-space and type 'activity' you will select Activity Monitor from the list. In there you can see what is using the most CPU. (get back to me if you need more info on using this app). Playing videos uses quite a lot of cpu for decompression. Playing music doesnt. Check also howmany widgets you have open by pressing F12. Close them down by holding the alt key and clicking the x in the top left corner of each.
This should help you reduce the heat a bit. Also think of getting somthing like the iLap. I use this myself (using it right now infact) and it's pretty good.
All the best
