Hi, start internet explorer (blue e) in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and press enter
in the new screen, type in the password to enter the set jup (as it says, admin is the default)
click wireless settings on the left hand side of the screen, click encryption, select wpa-psk from the drop down boxwhere it says pre-shared key, type in a MEMORABLE password and then click apply. Now you will lose your wireless signal. Panic ye not! Click on the smatt TV in the lower right hand side of the screen (this is called the sys-tray) you will now see that the wireless icon which looks a bit like a telly eith 3 yellow arcs coming out of it's right hand side has a red cross on it. Click it once, click view wireless networks and then on the new screen click refresh network list. You will after a few seconds see your network -click on it and then on connect. A new box will come up asking you for the networe key aka password. Enter the memorable password you have just forgotten in the upper and lower boxes and press enter. Et voila! you now have an encrypted wireless network and you can only get onto it if you know the memorable password! Have fun

My husband bought a dlink router (it says dgl-4500 on it) and i cant figure out how to use it to get wireless internet for my new laptop....i have three "codes" he wrote down- a "router pass", a "network...

Router password is the password to access the router settings.
SSID is the network name. When you try to connect to the wireless network on your laptop, you will see this network name.
If your network is secured network then it will ask you for the network key or the password. You need to enter the ' security key '.

Changing password making the network secured

Access the Linksys configuration page as described in your instructions.
Select WPA or WPA2 as the wireless security encryption
Select PSK or TKIP and enter a network key (a.k.a. Password) to secure the connection.
The devices you connect to the Linksys must support the encryption you select.
Older devices might force you to use older encryption like WEP but be aware that WEP has been hacked since 2007 so it really isn't very secure anymore.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

I need to add a password to my wireless network

Do you want to secure the wireless network ?
For that you will need to access the router set up.
You said that you want to add a password. I don't understand that. Is your wireless network already secured ? Or you want to make it secured ?
If it is already secured then it must have the password to connect to the wireless network. You can use only 1 password for the network. You can not use 2 password for the wireless network.
If your network is not secured yet then you will need to make it secured and enable password protection on it.
