SOURCE: Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV generating heat.

First, you will have to define what you mean by "hot to touch" ie.:
can you or can you not hold your hand on it for a few moments.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia does not see my digital channels

Hi buck lite,
Your cable company is telling the truth, you have digital cable. When auto scanned for digital channels the tv is lookig for OTR(over the air) signals. These are broadcast signals you will need an antenna to receive. Depending where you are and the type of antenna you use you probably could pick up some digital channels. Let me know if this helps and please rate this solution. Lone99star

SOURCE: sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

SOURCE: Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

I have a line of icons;braviaex5, motionflow, ambient sensor, etc.etc.etc

On the TV there should be a MENU button. It might be located on the side of the TV. Try holding that button in and see if that solves the problem. LMK if that works. Good luck!

How do I change to 4:3 aspect setting on sony kdl40ex500

If the WIDE button on the remote control isn't changing the aspect ratios here is what I can tell you:

Normal is not available when you are watching a 720p, 1080i or 1080p source.
If 4:3 Default is set to anything but Off, the Wide Mode setting changes only for the current channel. When you change channels (or inputs), Wide Mode is automatically replaced with the 4:3 Default setting for 4:3 sources. To retain the current Wide Mode setting as channels and inputs are changed, set 4:3 Default to Off.
4:3 Default is not available if Auto Wide is set to Off.

The owner's manual can be found here: https://docs.sony.com/release/KDL32FA600-EX301-EX400-EX401-EX500-EX501.pdf

If you still can't get the aspect ratio to properly work you may need to do a power reset or perform a factory reset: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38403/c/65,66/p/61659,62766,63066/ Just make sure to note any special picture or sound settings you may have made.

Sony KDL40EX500 power supply. Board has standby power but other voltages don't come up. Tried shorting "Power On" pin (pin 13) to "STDBY3.3V (pin 15) to try and get the board to power up but nothing.

If You do not see any open link or resistor, short IC or transistor on power supply it must be a control board problem. You must get the set to SONY, as it is necessary to exchange board and upgrade software.
