Question about HP Color LaserJet 2500Lse Printer

1 Answer

Colors do not match up

I have an HP color printer 2600n series that prints but colors do not match with the black ink. It seems the colors print about half an inch after the black color prints. So, there's always a shadow.

Have you tried a few alignments? Also you can try turning the printer on and when you start hearing the alignment turn the printer off ... do this a few times and see if this helps.
Also you can try to manually align the cartridges.. to do this turn the printer off. Open the front cover to reveal the cartridges. On the right hand side you can see some gears. Try to turn one of these slightly.. one click (1mm) should do it. Now turn the printer on and let it align itself

I am using the HP Laser Jet 2600n and I only use the black ink, I have it set up that way, for financial reasons. Why is it not letting me print? It is saying that my magenta is out, and will NOT let...

First of all, for financial reasons you don't use a color printer. Unless you print graphs.
Second of all, this is a laser printer, it doesn't use ink.
Third, all four toner cartridges must be inserted and working in order to print in any color.

Go back and read the "First of all" again and buy a B and W laser printer.

Cannot print in black because color cartidge is out of ink

There is a 'low toner' override in the menu system, but if this has NOT been set already, a 'flag' will be set on the chip on the cartridges that are low/empty.

The printer needs to 'see' cartridges that are usable, i.e. NOT empty, in order to function.

It is possible to replace just the chips on the colour cartridges, but then any colour printing quality could be compromised of course, as the colours will be low/empty. You would then be able to use the printer as if it were a mono laser, just changing the black cartridge when needed

Black blocked by magenta

One ovbious option would be to have a friend print it out.
I assume that is not an option.

Some printers just won't let you print if a single color is out. Yes, stupid. Try printing a blank page. If it fails, there is no other option but to replace the cartridge or print elsewhere.
If the blank page test works, this next option/test is worth a try...
Depending on the app you are using, you can specify the color breakdown of the colors you are using. In your case, it is possible that the text is set to a rich black (4-color) rather than just black.
If that is the case, to test this most quickly, make a new file, and create a new black (black2), set to 100 black, 0% other colors.
Type a wor and set it to print in that color and try to print it.
If that works, apply the same technique to your real document.
Hope it works. I've been stuck in the same situation, and some printers will just not let you print if a single color is out.
Good luck.

Sounds as though one of the drum cleaning blades is failing.

When you see the double image shadow, is it any particular color? If so, that's the drum unit that is failing.
