SOURCE: hp 2420 vrtical line in page

Hello,

This issue can be due to fuser. I am sure you have changed the toner cartridge.
To confirm its a fuser issue, please perform the following:
1. Try printing a configuration page from tray 1, pull the top cover, as soon as the media is 60-70% inside the printer.
This would stop the paper before reaching the fusing assy.
2. Remove the paper and check if the line exist.
If exists, fuser is not faulty.
If it does not, then transfer roller, laser/scanner assy is faulty

- If fuser is faulty, perform the cleaning page as following
1. go to configure device > print quality > create/process cleaning page
perform cleaning page 5-6 times, however, if the line is due to fuser, then fuser needs to be changed.

Let me know the next update.

SOURCE: horizontal black lines across page.

Horizontal lines usually indicate a toner cartridge that is not cleaning properly.

A. If the distance between defects is 38 mm (1.5 inches), 47 mm (1.85 inches), or 94 mm (3.7 inches), the print cartridge might need to be replaced.
B. Clean the printer.

1. Clean the inside of the printer and run a cleaning page to clean the fuser.

Over time, particles of toner and paper accumulate inside the printer. This can cause print-quality problems during printing. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems.

To clean the inside of the printer
1. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord.
2. Open the top cover.
3. Remove the print cartridge.
4. With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe any residue from the paper path area and the print cartridge
cavity.
5. Reinstall the print cartridge and close the top cover.
6. Plug in the power cable and turn the printer on.

Cleaning the fuser:

Run the printer cleaning page to keep the fuser free of toner and paper particles that can sometimes accumulate. Accumulation of toner and particles can cause specks to appear on the front or back side of your print jobs. To ensure optimum print quality, HP recommends that you use the cleaning page every time that you
replace the print cartridge or on an automatic interval that you can set up. The cleaning procedure takes about 2.5 minutes to complete. A CLEANING message appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place.
To run the cleaning page:

In order for the cleaning page to work correctly, print the page on copier-grade paper (not bond, heavy, or rough paper).
1. If your printer model includes a duplexer, open the rear output bin.
2. Press Menu to open the menus.
3. Use (Up button) or (Down button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press (Select button).
4. Use (Up button) or (Down button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press (Select button).
5. Use (Up button) or (Down button) to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press (Select button).
6. Follow the instructions on the cleaning page to complete the cleaning process.
7. If your printer model includes a duplexer, close the rear output bin.

If this helps resolve the problem, please post a reply. Binary Bob

SOURCE: HP Laserjet IIIP starting printing thin vertical black line

Was this happening before you swapped toner?
Is there toner streaks on the drum? Yes? Defective.
What if you stop the printer (open cover) as it passes through the fuser to determine if image is from drum or fuser?
But really....isn't it time to move on anyway???

When printing on my Canon Pixma MP500, there is a dark black line down the middle of the page. As the pages print, it gets lighter and lighter, but is very dark on the first one. Any thoughts?

Ink tends to overflow at the bottom guide rollers and the roller gets coverd in ink and causes the black line! The best will be to take it to a dealer and have it cleaned!Good Luck!

Dark lines appear on each page I print on the printer. I have cleaned every roller, dumped the old toner and added new toner.

Are the lines vertical or horizontal?

vertical lines can be caused by several things.
Since you said that cleaned the rollers, then here are other options
1: Most common is a bad toner cartridge.
2: try cleaning the fuser entrance guide.
3: could be a defective formatter - formatter replacement the fix.
4: worn fuser. fuser replacement is the fix.

horizontal lines are probably repetitive down the page, and are usually caused by a defective toner cartridge or fuser assembly. occasionaly a transfer roller will cause it as well.

Toner loves to get baked onto the fuser and cause all kinds of print problems. Not much you can do but to replace the fuser when this happens.

Dell 1815dn laser printer prints completely black pages

1. Charge – Print Quality (PQ) -- The charge roller evenly distributes a negative charge on the photoconductor (PC) drum. This evenly distributed charge acts as the film that is discharged (exposed) by the laser to create the latent image.
a. Print Quality effected: Faint, Entire Black background, Grey Fog/Haze
b. Parts Involved:
i. Drum -- A drum cartridge is coated with a photoconductive material that allows electricity to pass when exposed to light. As an example of why this can be the failure, if you leave a drum out in light long enough, you will get dark backgrounds or just black pages. However, drums do wear out over time too; specifically the photo material the drum is coated with. As this degrades, more of the positive electricity on the inside of the drum gets through and grabs toner, as if the laser wrote to every square inch of it. A damaged or defective PC drum can cause black streaks/lines, voids, speckles and various other print quality problems.
ii. Charge Roller Also known as the BCR or Bias Charge Roll. The charge roller pulls double duty. It energizes the outside of the drum with negative energy and as a result it cleans any previous latent images. If the charge roller were failing to energize either due to the HVPS or the charge roller itself, it wouldn’t clean any previous unused toner deposits from the last revolution would start to accumulate and appear on paper more and more causing haze. A missing charge roller causes completely black pages.

iii. HVPS – High Voltage Power Supply -- Responsible for charging components such as the inside of the drum, the charge roller, and transfer roller. If the HVPS does not give enough to the charge roller it can fail in erasing the drum, causing entirely Black pages to be printed.

Black line down the page

Is the line on the front of the page or on the back? If on the back, you need to clean the platten which is the piece of plastic under the paper.

If its on the front, and you say "It lools like a rubber cover may be missing off of one of the rollers", could you upload a picture of this roller? I don't recall any covers on rollers in Canon printers.

Try this, print out a blank page. If line is still there, print out 10 blank pages. If line is still there and has not faded, this is unusual and may need servicing. There may be a problem with the encoder strip (it's a clear plastic strip with black lines running the length of the printer slightly behind the head), Try cleaning it on both sides with a little windex on a q-tip. It's delicate so be careful.

If the line looks faded after printing 10 blank pages, some ink has dripped onto something that is contacting the paper. This could be a roller, the bottom of the head carriage or even a hair or piece if dust that is stuck in the machine or on the bottom of the head. In this case, I would recommend cleaning everything. Revove the head (tell the machine you're going to replace ink, and when it moves the head into the centre position unplug the power cord.

Remove the head and clean off any dust or hairs on the bottom. Run a Q-Tip along the bottom of the carriage assembly wherever you can. Clean any accessable rollers. If you can get at it, clean the wiper on the purge unit (the unit the head sits over when it is parked), as well as the seals.

Reinstall the head and ink, close the lid, power up and retry printing.

I hope this helps. If not, there could actually be a fault with the printhead or one of the circuit boards
