Cuisinart DBG-500 has - -- on display and won't work

Yesterday this happend and after unplugging it for an hour the time started to flash again which indicated it was working. Today nothing on the - -- on the display and none of the buttons work. You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.

The cleaning button keeps flashing after cleaning. I have cleaned this with water & vinegar several times, but can only make one or two pots of coffee before the cleaning button begins to flash again....

We have this problem as well. We simply clean it as directed once or twice with the vinegar and water mix and then unplug for an hour. This resets our machine for several weeks. Based on the number of comments I've seen on this issue, it seems that the "off" sensor doesn't work.

My Cuisinart coffee maker won't program start time.

Reset the coffeemaker by unplugging it for 20 minutes or longer - don't skimp on the time left unplugged.

Then plug the coffeemaker back in, reset the normal clock. Remember: It will display PM if it is on PM, but nothing if it is on AM.

Then hit the Program button. Hold in the "Hours" button for a few seconds and set the time you want the coffeemaker to go off in the morning. Hold in the "Minutes" button for a few seconds and change the minutes. Then hit the Program button again.

Now turn your coffeemaker to AUTO-ON - it will now go off at the set time.

Pot keeps shutting off after coffee completely brewed.

This may be an electrical issue, but I would try holding in the on/off button for a few seconds and see if it still displays 2 hrs as the auto-off time. If 2 hrs does display correctly, unplug the unit for 16 minutes or longer - do not plug it back in a single second shy of 16 minutes. Then reset the clock and reprogram the auto-off Try one more time.

If that fails, it may be replacement time.

Just bought a new cuisinart coffee maker and no book came with it. I need to know how to program the coffee maker.

Hi,

  1. Setting the time
  • When the machine is plugged in, the screen will display 12:00.
  • Press and hold the "HR" and "MIN" button until the numbers flash.
  • Then press the "HR and "MIN" button to scroll through the numbers. When the numbers stop flashing, the time has been set.
CAUTION! When you pass the number 12, the letters "PM" appear to indicate the time between 12 noon and 12 midnight. When these letters do not appear, the time corresponds to the morning hours, from midnight to noon. Always make sure the hour is set according to the correct period so that programming is correct.
  • 2 Programming the start time
  • Press and hold the "PROG" button. The numbers and the indicator light flash.
  • Press "HR" and "MIN" in the same way to set the hour to the desired start time for the cycle. When the numbers stop flashing, the programmed time is set.
CAUTION! Programming the start time is not possible when the coffee maker is running.

Hope this will help you.

Best regards
/Mirran

CAN NOT GET TIMER TO SAY A.M.

I did call Cuisinart and they told me to unplug the unit for at least a half hour. I did unplug it for an hour and then attemptedd to reset the clock and a program. It worked. Evidently, it becomes confused if you try too many attempts.
