Question about Compaq Armada E500 Notebook

Replacing Laptop LCD Screen

Apparently my laptop received a hard knock from somewhere and the LCD screen has cracked internally. Everything else seems to be working and I have the opportunity to pick up some other laptops (same model) being sold for spare parts pretty cheaply. May even end up with a couple of working models, but how do I replace the screen? I've taken the screws out of the hinges but the next step is not obvious to me.

You'll need to remove the screws holding the screen bezel (the plastic around screen) on...they'll probably be under little circular plastic or rubber covers....gently pry these out as they'll go back in place when you reverse the procedure....should be four of them....Gently pry the bezel away from the main screen housing ...once thats done....you'll need to unscrew the screws holding the screen onto the hinge plates...(again should be 4 of these)...screen should now be free
NB be careful when screwing in the new screen to the hinge plates as overtightening can sometimes crack the screen

Section of LCD display will not show

Assuming you have tried altering display aspect ratio and or resolution it may be that the laptop received a knock and the ribbon connector between screen and laptop has dislodged or even split or torn.if there is a fine crack on the screen or it received liquid ingress spillage then you may need to replace screen...these are quite often sourced off eBay.an engineer will typically charge something like £75 - £100 to source and replace screens but if it is touchscreen much more.

No backlight on laptop LCD screen

The only solution I can think of is that your 40pin cable from the motherboard to the screen is damaged. They do fail just through use (opening and closing the laptop lid can put strain on the cable) Try replacing this cable.

Lcd screen partially paralyzed

The problem is either the LCD display, or the ribbon cable/connector.
The laptop must be taken apart testing the lcd ribbon cable, replacing it or re-fitting it in place inside the connector.
If ribbon cable is ok, then LCD panel is faulty.
If problem disabbears when you push the laptop case, then it is probably the cable.
Go to a reliable computer repair shop and mention the problem, the cable is worth just a couple dollars, and the labour is around $80.

Screen Problems with my Laptop

hi dear

1. That can be connection related problem. I check connection between the video cable and the LCD screen, try reconnecting the video cable. It’s necessary to take apart the display panel, unplug the video cable from the connector on the back side of the LCD screen and then plug it back in. In some cases reseating this connection helps. 2. If reconnecting the video cable doesn’t help, here’s what I do in this case. While the display panel is still disassembled, I turn on the laptop and wait until image appears on the screen. Then I move the video cable a little bit without touching the LCD screen. If moving/touching the video cable affects image on the screen, it’s possible that there is a problem with the cable. Apparently there’s a short somewhere inside the cable. In this case, replacing the video cable may fix the problem.
3. If reconnection the cable doesn’t help and moving/touching the cable doesn’t change image at all and the only way to get better picture is moving/touching the LCD screen itself, apparently there is a problem with the LCD and it has to be replaced.

oke

Laptop screen

is the color building up in one place and fading in another, or just fading all over? if its building in 1 spot i would suggest you have a very thin hair line crack acros the screen somewhere, if its completely fading, i would suggest the LCD converter under or behind the screen under the beizel is failing, in which case you should take to a computer tech to dismantle and test
