Question about Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router

Connecting new Linksys WRT160n to existing modem Westell 7500

It took me a week to get the WRT160N to work when I first got it but, now I can not get the wireless to stay set up. Every time I turn the computer off and turn on again, the wireless does not work. From what I have read there is an issue using the Westell with my Linksys because they both have wireless. How can I solve my issue to make my Linksys my main connection directly from the computer to the internet via the Westell? This is very frustrating. When the Linksys wireless is working, it's signal is at least 3 times stronger/faster than the Westell.

You have to call your internet provider and ask them to help you put the Westell modem in "Bridged ethernet" mode. This will by-pass the Westell modem and use your linksys as the wireless.

Sync wrt54g2v1 router to modem?

Turn off the modem (i am assuming you are using a cable modem. if it is a DSL modem, this will not work) and the router. Turn the modem back on and wait until all the LED's on the front of the modem come on and blink or stay solid, then turn the router on. If it is DSL, you will have to refer to this page:

My new WRT160N Linksys won't connect ATT Motorola 2210 DSL Modem

For AT&T default IP address for the Motorola modem is 192.168.1.254.
Default for the Linksys IP address is 192.168.1.1.

Have you changed either one? For them to work correctly they need to be in different subnets. An IP Address of 192.168.y.xx, where y is the subnet and a different number for each device, usually 0, 1, or 2.

If they are in the same subnet, change the modem'smag-glass_10x10.gif IP to 192.168.0.254 or 192.168.2.254. Once you do this you will need to use the new address to access the modem.
You should make sure the router'smag-glass_10x10.gif gateway is outside the DHCP rage of the modem.

Compatibility with high speed ADSL2 Broadband

Yes, Linksys WRT160N is 100% compatible with ADSL2. Linksys WRT160N is a Broadband router.

you will not be able to use the linksys WRT160N, as an ADSL2 modem router. you should be using an ADSL2 Modem separately and connect the cable from the modem to the Linksys WRT160N. Hope this clarify the doubt.

Connecting my linksys wrt160n router from my modem using the internet port i get no connection, but if I plug the modem into the ethenet port I do get a connection, why?

Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
MAke sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all

verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:
moz-screenshot.pnghttp://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o64/arcticpaws/linksys.png
Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

Changed my modem and now my wrt160n dosen't work

I recommend calling your ISP and have them synch your new cable modem with their connection. They may need to register the hardware address of your new modem for them to be able to recognize it and grant internet access.

Hope this helps.

Cant connect to the internet with linksys wrt160nv2

if this is DSL connection then you have to configure your modem before you connect router

follow this
first disabled wireless on your modem/router

.1) Turn off DHCP on your modem/router I am assuming this is verizon westell
2. Configure the first VC port to Bridge-Bridge mode
3. Keep hitting "apply" in the windows until the 7500 reboots
4. Plug the "Internet" port on the linksys to one of the normal ethernet ports on the modem /router
5. Turn on the Netgear and wait for the green Internet light to go solid

good luck if this does not work provide more info on your setup
