just got an infinity PERFECT 12.1 sub and i have and mtx rt2200 amp. When ever I start to turn the gain up on the amp, the sub goes nuts, it hits random notes really loudly and doesn't go with the music. Is the amp broken or is it just a wiring problem?
Set the amps pre-amp input to match the output of your head units pre-amp output voltage. That should give the best clarity,If not, then you have a problem elsewhere.
I have the bose 901 and the bose am5 acustamass speakers systems. Whenever the system is in the surrond mode, I get a lot of cracking and popping out of the speakers, especially when I am watching a show with a lot of action such as bombs exploding and guns being fired. What could possibly be the problem.

Using a high quality anolog multimeter (Simpson 260 series)or a digital meter set it up for measuring D.C. voltage. Set the range (if not automatic) for 50 volts or so - depending on the meter. With the amp on and acting "nuts" put the test leads from the meter on to the speaker terminals - If you see a fluctulating D.C. voltage more than likely one or more output transistors is shorted out. Take it to a repair shop or better yet e-mail the manufacture and see what they can do for you.57GEARHEAD

I wish I knew what the problem was that you are experiencing. The only advice I have for you is to maybe try posting in the Car Sound & Performance Forum as they are much more active. You will have a better chance of getting a helpful reply

I bought a house that has ceiling speakers in almost every room and speakers on the patio. There is a massive bunch of speaker wires that come out of the wall in the room that where all the central audio/video equipment is located...my problem is I have no idea which speaker wires are connected to the ceiling speakers throughtout the house. Besides going in the attic and yanking on the wires and having someone in the house tell me which wires are moving as I go to all the speaker locations in the attic, which seems ridiculous and still doesn't test the speakers to see if they are working. How do I do a simple test to the speakers to find out if they are working and where they are located?
