Brand new:27909 works great.the brand new remote 27911 can't be registered to the 27909.my nickname is betty hewitt,password is 86a2a in addition i can,t get the back off of the remote set to access the battery compartment.If i were to try to use any more force i could scratch or mar the remote set and i could not return it.

I also had this problem and then I found a solution from another site. Just open the handset and remove the battery for about 1 minute. Reinstall the battery and go through the register procedure again - it will register almost immediately. just keep the handset near the base.
I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.
