When the power is on, the lights work on the panel to select original paper size, reduce/enlarge, and the output paper location. BUT, the start button needs to be on/green, and to start the copier's operation.

No error message is communicated on the panel. Thanks for any ideas. It was purchased 8-9 years ago, so I hesitate to put any money into having it repaired.

If the machine needs toner you will be able to change paper size & reduction but the machine will not come to ready[green ready light lit]. so if the machine keeps running after you turn it on it needs toner. if you leave it on for lets say 15 min. does it give you an add toner light or an error code?

I think the problem is on the led light that is the reason why the star botton not in on ready mode/green.my be theirs is a lost contact in the panel board.if the toner in indicator are not in red blinking.

Sharp AR-156 will not copy

Usually that means the polygon motor isn't up to speed.
Try turning the copier off, wait 20 seconds, and turn the power back on.
Is there any other devices plugged into this electrical outlet?

Remove error in AR-5316

Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.
  1. Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
  2. Find the button below the word Auto.
  3. Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
  4. Press the [10's] key one time and the [1's] key four times to enter '14' in the LED Display, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  5. Press the green [Start] button.
  6. Press the pink [Clear] button two times.
  7. The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
  8. If the above steps do not clear the error code, repeat steps 3 to 6 a second time.
