Question about Mad Dog Multimedia MD-5216CDR (20681870) CD-RW/DVD-ROM (Combo) Burner
I have the mad dog multimedia dvd lightscribe burner and it worked great and I have not had a problem with recording up until now. I it recorded one dvd for me on a dvd+r memorex dvd and I noticed a change that needed to be made on a clip and the software I am generating the film in is photodex. I go in create the set up and it shows that it recorded and the dvd was burned but when I go to open the dvd it does not show any data or film. and the dvd player does not recognize the dvd either. shows dvd is dirty. these are new dvd's just purchased and I used them before and all of them are doing the same thing. is it the dvd-rom did it go bad. if I put a dvd in it will play it but it will not burn to any.

I don't think the burner is compatable with Mac. http://www.mdmm.com/products.php?categoryid=2 Here is the site. Check your model here. I only found Windows compatable. Good Luck, Tim p.s. someone out there must have some hacked driver.

I have been using my Mad Dog External CD/DVD burner for serveral years now on both Mac & PC. However, I do have intermittant issues when the computer recognizes the Mad Dog but my software does not (Toast). There is no driver for Mac as far as I know. I called Mad Dog one time and they rudely suggested that Mac does not need a driver and that I should know that. No help at all!!! I will try the suggestion for PCs to turn everything off, turn on the Mad Dog, then boot my computer and see if that works. Does anyone else use a Mac and have more solutions?????

Depending on which version of windows you are using, you might need to install the drivers for the device.
I know XP and older versions have a mush smaller internal driver database than windows vista or windows 7.
You don't necessarily need to install software to operate the device, just need the driver installed, then your computer will recognize the device.
Hope this can help you.
