Philips DSR 708 no picture or sound

Woke up this morning and found that my DVR was not working fan is on but nothing else. Tried attaching other cables but no success. I have opened it up thinking I may find a fuse but see nothing. I suspect the fan may have been clogged with dust. Before opening it I cleared the fan area of dust. I can say for sure if it was on before doing that. Please help.

SOURCE: I have a DirecTV Philips

Did you try the reset system clear and delete everything.

Clear and delete everything. Clears all Season Pass items, WishList searches, Thumb

ratings, TiVo Suggestions and Now Playing List recordings, program information, and the

To Do List and setup information, including the Channels You Receive and Favorite

Channels lists. It also clears the current password and resets Parental Controls to the
factory specified default. Completing this process may take over an hour.

The only other way to get the master code is to call 1-866-628-8606 or 1-800-347-3288

Fisher and Paaykel Smart Drive 708 not working once filled with water.

You need to check your lid switch & out of balance switch for
corrosion and replace if faulty.
Your out of balance switch is under the big yellow motor controller
OOB switch Is where the grey plate is on this picture.

No picture

It's likely the Ssb is out, Philips p/n# 319801634710 which on a difficult scale of 1-10 is about a 6 or 7 for repairs. That is a DPTV310 chassis and somewhat tight quarters inside. It's not so bad taking the strappings loose to get at the board but a tight area to work through getting the standup board unplugged from the signal board. One noteable caution: unplug the set for at least 10 minutes before opening the back VERY STATIC SENSITIVE..

Sound but no picture

There is one solution you could try first.. what you have to do is force a software upgrade on the unit.. How you do this is reset the receiver and when it says"your directv receiver is starting up" on the remote type 0 2 4 6 8 then it should say new sofware found and let it finish the update and that may solve the issue.. if that doesnt email me [email protected]

DirecTV DVR Shuts Down and Re-boots Without Warning

With the DVR up and operating well I would lift up one corner about 1/2 inch and drop it to see if that causes it to malfunction. If it does, then you likely have one or more bad solder connections inside that need repair. If no change is noted, then it could possibly be defective capacitors or a voltage regulator going bad on you. There is also a possibility that it could be a worn recepticle the unit is plugged into, as a power interruption may be all it needs to reboot.
