Hooking up surround sound to TV

I bought a surround sound system that has the DVD on it and my vizio TV doesn't seem to have the audio out line

-   I have a older JVC receiver with surround and I cant get the tv sound to work. the only clear autio output looks like a usp / phone cable. Is this the only way to get it to work and will I need a newer receiver or is there any other way or a addaptor i cat get to make it work. -   lsenescall

You have to get an optical audio cord.

The optical output on the vizio is right next to the ac cord. Make sure that your audio amp has the same input conection.
