Question about Bissell Vacuums
There is a flapper door that blocks suction when the pickup tank is full so water won't be drawn into the motor. Sometimes that flapper will shut off too soon and stop the suction. The Bissel web page has all the parts you'll need to fix it.

I think you have the same problem as me, If you lay the handle down and remove the tank you'll see a vacuum hose that runs from about the middle of the machine back towards and up into the handle. that hose probably has a hole in it. which is my problem also I can't get at the part of the hose that runs into the handle. I hope I could at least help you figure out what the problem was.
