Bose is a pain in the back like Apple. Everything they make is proprietary or it won\'t work. The 901 series is one of them.

Using Proper Speaker Polarity

Sound system speakers have standard polarity which is indicated either with a "+" or a "-", or with Red and Black colors near the speaker terminals. This same polarity marking is also found on the sound system amplifier section. Most speaker cable has a polarity indication; either color coded, or a physical difference in the wires. Reversed polarity results an obvious decrease in bass, and a hollow sound in the mid range frequencies. If your speaker cable has no obvious polarity indication, you can check the polarity as follows; connect a 9V battery to each speaker cable for no more than about a second; long enough to see the woofer cone move. When the + battery terminal is connected to the + speaker lead, the woofer cone will move out. When you have this situation, label the positive speaker lead, either with tape, or by tying that wire in a simple knot. Make sure both cables are checked.

Main Speaker Not Working

IS there a circuit board inside that speaker? You are correct about the general loss of sound quality that usually occurs with speaker failure. Best way to check is with a meter or a scope

No sound from the main cone mission m73

It sounds to me that there is something wrong with the crossover unit inside the speaker. These tend to use non-polar capacitors these sometimes fail, but it depends on how sophisticated the crossover is. It could use semi-conductors as well, which also fail.

Sound comes out of the right speaker with the z4 volume set at minimum. however the sound can be controlled by the windows volume control. When you turn up the volume on the z4 the left speaker works....

open your subwoofer because main system is inside in your subwoofer than clean it with a air blower ..
this happens when dust is inside the system....

The horn works but not the 15" you can hear the

Hi, problem can be solved. The problem can be from two places,

From the speaker and,
also the cross over.

I might be from the speaker if the wire connected from the cross over inside the speaker has cut or has removed.,it can make the speaker (15),not to make any sound..

The cross over might also be the fault too. The cross over is located inside the speaker and it makes the 15 speaker makes sound..
'There are capacitors on the crossover that control and makes the 15 speaker make sound. If the capacitor gets damaged it can make the sound stop. Also you will need to check the fuse inside the speaker, you will find the fuse on the cross over of the speaker.

Troubleshoot the above, and problem solved,...

Hope that helped..

Thanks fro using fixya.....

No sound coming out of speakers on my cerwin vega

It will be easy to pin point the problem. If your satellite speakers have been connect through the sub's in and output speaker connectors, disconnect them and connect them directly to the source of sound. If the speakers work its the crossover inside the sub enclosure. If the speakers do not work the speakers are blown.

No sound from EV SH-1502 ER 15" driver

Either the 15" speaker is dead, or the passive crossover inside the unit. The simplest way to identify your problem is to remover the speaker that isn't working from the enclosure, and exchange it with the speaker that is working. If there's no sound still, it's the speaker itself that is the problem. If it works in the other cabinet, then put the "working" speaker in the cabinet you took the "bad" speaker out of, and if it doesn't work, then there's a problem with the crossover in the first cabinet. I believe you can buy a replacement crossover from EV. If it's your speaker, do a google search for "speaker re-coning" in your area - it's cheaper to re-cone the speaker than buy a new one.

Polk Audio RC55i In-Wall Surround Speakers (can't hear whispers)

I'd make sure that the receiver surround mode is set for one of the digital settings, such as Dolby Digital or DTS, and make sure that you have the center channel level adjusted to a level similar to the other two front channel speakers. I've seen/heard this happening when using dolby digital material & having surround set on something like 'hall' or 'stadium' or dolby surround, where only 4 channels are used & the amp has to 'mix' sounds to the left & right front speakers. It'll often sound like the actors on screen are talking out of the bottom of a barrel, with a hollow & tinny character to the voices.
