SOURCE: Lines on prints

Hi kids! I decided to have another go at sorting out my 'lines' problem and have sorted it. See if this might work for you: I had previously done the head cleaning via the printer itself - holding the central ink/paper black button for 3 secs. This time I went to the Epson 1290 window on my Mac and clicked on the utility box. Though the Nozzle check print came out fine I went ahead and did the head cleaning in this box. The next print came out almost perfect so I ran the Head cleaning again and it printed a perfect print. Hope this might work for you. Keep on trying! All the best. Trant

SOURCE: Epson Stylus Photo R800 Print Head Nozzles ??

Don't use nozzles clean function, besides ink consuming it can cause damages that cannot be fixed: black lines on the back side of the page that will be permanent. Instead put two photo paper together (2x260 gr) and push the two papers together into the printer while printing a motive including many colors. Do so a couple of times and the clogg usually disappears. Good luck! jonk

SOURCE: epson stylus photo 2200 print head removal

Replace the cartridges.
Otherwise, it's unorthodox, but some users have found that this works in your situation. Remove the cartridge, cover the nozzle with a paper towel and use the pointed attachment of a vacuum to clean the dry ink from the cartridge. Be careful not to get ink all over. Then reseat the cartridge and print...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

SOURCE: Epson 9600 Magenta problems...

sounds like a problem with the damper/cleaning unit.

You need to clean the "pads" under where the print head parks.

Turn off power. open front cover. push it cutter (blue) and slide printhead to the left.

You will see a pad in there. this is the cleaning area. Remove and clean. Also next to this is a wiper. it is vertical and needs to be washed with some rubbing alcohol.

try these and get back to me.

Epson 9600 splatering black ink on images mostly on the right side

I have not worked on such a large machine, but it sounds like the ink waste station likely need cleaning. All smaller inkjet printers have silicone wiper blades that clean excess ink off the print head surface, if the blades are heavily saturated in junked up ink they may not be cleaning the print head appropriately. I have cleaned many wiper sleds with warm water and Q-tips, but always on home or SOHO machines. If this is not something you feel comfortable doing, call a professional technician, I'm sure that machine is worth and simple service call.

Epson 9600 print head missing numerous nozzels during test print procedure. Tried power clean several times. Do you have a remedy?

You willl probably need to clean the Pump Cap Assy.

You will need a strong flashlight/clip-on lamp to see what you are doing up in the area you are cleaning.

Move the print head to the left side of 9600. (If you need help with this let me know.)

Use a foam tipped swab slightly dampened with warm water to GENTLY wipe around the seal area of the Pump Cap Assy.

DO NOT USE A COTTON TIPPED SWAB !!!

Dip, Blot, & Wipe. Clean the Foam Swab often to wash off the residue it will pick up. Remenber to keep the swab slightly moist - not dripping wet.
---
If this does't help, it generally means that the Print Head is also very clogged with gummy/dried ink.

The Print Head cannot be cleaned without removing the Right Side Cover & then removing the Pump Cap Assy. This removing and cleaning is about a 1.5hr-2hr job for an experienced tech. Anyone with moderate mechanical skills can do it though.

Pump Cap Assy cleaning is usually done BEFORE replacing the Print Head.

If the Print Head cleaning doesn't work then a New Print Head is in order.

Hope this helps ! Good Luck !

Epson stylus c66 printer will only print in yellow.

Hi,

Sounds like your printhead is clogged... This does not mean the printer is dead as cleaning the printhead requires only two things.

  1. Patience
  2. A cleaning solution.
The former is often harder to come by than the latter because most printer owners want a quick fix...

The cleaning solution needs to be one that is compatible with inkjet printers. I personally use and sell this type here but you will find that it's available from various suppliers although the best fluid is apparently the older style Windex (the ammoniated version).

To actually complete the clean you need to follow these instructions:
  • Turn the printer on
  • Press the "ink" button once and wait for the printer to move off the parking pad
  • Remove the printer power cord and move the printhead all the way to the left side of the printer (out of the way)
  • Take a piece of kitchen paper towel folded about 4 times so it's about the size of the parking pad (the white bit of plastic the printhead usually sits on.
  • Soak this pad in the cleaning solution
  • Place the pad on the parking pad and then carefully move the printhead back over the pad so it sits flat underneath the printhead
  • Leave the printer for 12 hours
  • Return, look at the printer, wonder if it's ready (after 30 minutes) and then force self to go do something else :-)

  • Move the printhead out of the way and remove the now ink soaked pad from the pad and replace with a fresh one (again soaked in cleaning solution)
  • Move the printhead back into position and leave for a further 12 hours.
  • Remove this last pad and then plug the printer back in
  • Press the power button an allow the printer to start up again
  • Run ONE cleaning routine and a single nozzle check to see if the printer is now printing out of more nozzles.
  • Chances are you'll need to leave the printer for another 30 minutes or so to let the ink settle down again.
With a little luck this will have fixed the other colours and you should be able to print again. You may need to print a couple more nozzle checks or one more cleaning routine or even repeat another 12 hour wait with the solution soaked pad.

Whatever you do, don't waste ink or time trying to force the printer to do more than 2 cleaning routines at a time...

As to why this works.. in a nutshell, the cleaning solution wicks up into the printhead nozzles where it rehydrates and breaks down the ink clogs putting them back into a more readily ejected solution.

The solution needs time to do its work though so this is why you leave it for the best part of a day or more to do its work..

The C66, like many of the earlier durabrite ink printers are very prone to clogging to try to keep the printer ticking over and exercised and you should find you won't need to repeat this procedure again.

Hope this helps.

Ink heads

Removing the printheads from Epson printers is not recommended as you can successfully clean them while they are still installed and with less chance of borking the printer by forgetting where that screw went :)

To do this you need to turn the printer on, let the printhead move off the parking pads (where the printhead rests) and then immediately pull the power cord so the printer stops.

This will allow you to freely move the printhead to the far left out of the way.

You now need some ammoniated windex or a similar cleaning solution (try asking your ink supplier) compatible with inkjet printers.

Using a kitchen paper towel, carefully fold it four times and then soak this in the solution before putting the paper pad so it sits over the parking pad. Now move the printhead so it sits over the solution soaked pad and leave for 12 hours (don't turn the printer on or plug it back in).

Remove the original pad and put in a new one and leave for a further 12 hours.

Note: This approach allows the cleaning solution to wick up into the printhead nozzles and break down the clogs, returning them to solution and allowing you to clear them out. It requires time to let the solution do its work which is why it's critical you don't try to rush things..

Now, remove the pad, plug the printer back in and turn the printer on... Wait for the printer to stop it's initial routine and then run a cleaning routine and a nozzle check...

Leave the printer for a further hour just to let things settle some more and then print a new nozzle check...

You should find that that the printhead will have cleared out a great deal of clogging.

If your printhead has been clogged for some months you might want to change the pads more than once and extend the period over 2 to 3 days.

Whatever you do, don't try brushing the printhead back and forth over the soaked pad and avoid more than one cleaning cycle in a 3 hour period.

Hope that helps.

Clogged nosiles

Found solutions to this problem, it should work with a lot of different printers, there are kits for Canon and kits for Epson.
http://www.maxpatchink.com/directions-solutionkit.htm

This company seems to sell these kits for $9.95, I have not checked 100 % for compatibility yet, so do your research people; in general doing a google search, I found kits ranging from under $10 to about $15.
Will post with results, after I order it, wait peacefully for the kit to arrive and save the day !

Epson 9600 suddendly stopped printing yellow

It's NOT a cartridge if this works... I had a similar problem with a 9600 I bought on eBay that had been inoperable over 18 months. Three colors would NOT clear up after multiple power cleanings. Epson support politely solved the issue at no charge on the phone... he had me drop a few drops of warm water on the pad the printhead rests on when not printing. You have to move the printhead to the left to do that by moving up the little lever near the cutter. The pad is easier to reach with a long eye dropper. I used very warm water- not boiling. I replaced the printhead over the warm water pad for an hour. Then I repeated the process and let it be for another 60 minutes. Then I did a nozzle check and what was gummed up yellow, cyan, and magenta nozzles became clear and it's worked fine since. Good luck!
