Was working great as video machine for projector unit.
Kept getting updates for explorer 6 to go to seven and I would refuse. One day went to turn on and there was nothing, no lights, no hard drive sound, no small flash, nothing. The laptop is only 15 months old and the battery seems fine.
Here is what I have done.
I took the computer to school to use an IDENTICAL adapter supplied by a friend,no fix. Tried my adapter in his compaq and it worked fine, even charged his battery.
I have held the power button down for at least ten seconds and still no lights or power.
I have held the hybernate button and power button, still nothing.
I took the back off and checked to see power was getting to the motherboard and yes, power is at the adapter terminals.
I have removed the small battery but could not find the jumpers to switch so only removed battery. still no power.
Can it be the HD?

Re: laptop v2000 not turning on
Just to let you know it definely aint the hard drive,
only things worth trying that u aint already tried, is take out the main battery and try it with mains in.
take the memory modules out 1 at a time and try them.
if not more than likely the motherboard.

start the connecting all over again, by following the steps below:
1. Turn your computer off.
2. Connect the cable from the computer to the projector. If you want to
have your monitor to be hooked up as well, connect a splitter to the
video out port (DVI or VGA). You can also just hook the projector up to
the second port on your video card (If you have one) or if you have a
laptop, you can connect to the video out port on the back.
3. Turn the computer on and boot into your desktop.
4. Turn on the projector. Most projectors have an auto detect function,
that will detect a video signal and auto configure the projector to
display that signal. If you have a laptop, you have to hit a function
key to activate the second display. Usually this is FN Key + F5 or one
of the F Keys across the top of the laptop keyboard. It looks like two
squares, one empty and one with something in it.
5. Adjust the focus, brightness, contrast, and color on the projector.
6. Aim the projector at something white. Try not to aim it at something highly reflective.
7. Step back ... Load up your favorite game or video ... and enjoy.
Your project should work, after following the above instruction.
no its not a driver you have a video chip getting ready to fail.on the v2000 it intergrated in to the mother board. soon you will be joining many other compaq v2000 and m2000 owners in the search for a mother board compaq has updated part numbers it a whole differant board for these units due to having a common failure rate of the original mother boards.Compaq know there was a over heating of the video chip that leads to failure but has not offered any assistance to there customers. firstname.lastname@example.org
Please let me know from where i can download the following drivers for my Compaq Presario v2000 machine: 1. Multimedia Audio Controller 2. Network Controller 3. PCI Modem 4. Video Controller 5. Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
You mustn't have them plugged in. So try pulling them out then plugging them in. If this doesn't work you will probably need new cords. When buying the cords keep receipt in case you need to get a refund because it was'nt the problem. Also make sure they are plugged inthe right spot!
Hope this helps - Josh
NOTE : PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK If you don't in seven days it will be presumed i fixed the problems.
It's likely you have a badly clogged air filter which will greatly shorten the life of the lamp and projector. It MUST be kept clean! Your instruction maunual will show you where it is located. If this does not resolve it, you likely need a new lamp.
hold down the blue lettered function key "fn" located 2nd left on bottom row....the press the function key F3 / F4 / F5 / F6 whichever one has the small icon that looks like a square/rectangle....it toggles in3 positions so if it dosent work first time press the same keys again...make sure your projector vga cable is connected to the correct vga input socket and select the input device on the projector to computer and not video
1) Unplug the laptop.
2) Press and hold down the standby switch under the lid in the upper left hand side of the laptop while pressing down the power key.
You should have full power startup now. Let me know if it worked..
