Trying to restore back to factory settings

System Recovery
When you've tried other methods of repairing your
system software (like System Restore or Application
Recovery), you may want to use the Compaq System
Recovery program as a last resort to reinstall the software.
When necessary, you can reinstall the operating system and
the application software that was originally installed on the
PC at the factory by using the System Recovery program.
WARNING: The Compaq System Recovery
program will delete any data or programs
that you installed after purchase. Be sure to
back up any data that you want to keep onto
a removable disc.
The System Recovery program uses a special recovery
partition on the hard disk drive that stores an image of the
original software.
NOTE: The System Recovery image is in a partition area
of the hard disk drive and takes up part of the total drive
space. This disk space is not usually available for your use.
In the unlikely event that you replace the hard disk drive,
or somehow damage the data in the special recovery
partition on the hard disk drive, use recovery discs to
reinstall the operating system and software on the hard disk
drive. See "System Recovery Using Recovery Discs."
Make your own recovery discs (CDs or DVDs) before you
need them; see "Creating Recovery CDs/DVDs." You can
also make the Recovery Tools CD. This CD contains utilities
that allow you to make changes to your hard disk drive; see
"Using the Recovery Tools CD."
Starting System Recovery
if the PC Is Responding
1 Turn off the PC. Disconnect all peripheral devices from
the PC except the monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse.
Turn on the PC.
2 Click Start on the taskbar, choose All Programs,
choose PC Help & Tools, and then click Compaq
System Recovery.
3 Wait until the System Recovery window appears asking
Do you really want to start System Recovery?
4 Click Yes to continue with the recovery process. If you
created recovery discs, you may be directed to insert
recovery disc #1. If the Recovery disc is a DVD, be sure
to put the disc in a DVD drive.
5 The PC starts the recovery; wait for the onscreen
instructions to display, and then follow those instructions.
6 Complete the PC startup, finish the registration process,
and wait until you see the desktop. Then, turn off the PC,
reconnect all peripheral devices, and then turn on the PC.
Starting System Recovery if the PC
Is Not Responding
1 Turn off the PC. If necessary, press and hold the On
button until the PC turns off.
2 Disconnect all peripheral devices from the PC except the
monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse.
3 Press the On button to turn on the PC.
4 During the startup, do the following to enter the System
Recovery program:
When the black screen with the Compaq logo appears,
press the F10 key on the keyboard. (You have only a few
seconds to press the F10 key before the normal startup
process continues.)
5 The PC starts the recovery; wait for the onscreen
instructions to display, and then follow those instructions.
6 Complete the PC startup, finish the registration process,
and wait until you see the desktop. Then, turn off the PC,
reconnect all peripheral devices, and turn on the PC.

Windows7 stuck in loop

go to a local pc repair shop and have them burn you a windows disk for your version....the license is on a sticker on your PC, the Media (or disk,) doesn't matter for licensing purposes.

You can then attempt a start-up repair. boot from the cd, choose 'repair my computer', then choose the top radio button regarding advanced startup or recovery tools.

I need a new hard drive do I need to reinstall windows agin

Yes the new hard drive will be completely blank. Your dell should have came with recovery disks (a windows disk, driver disk, ect) or a recovery patition that you would have to burn the disks from to make a set of disks. These disk will reinstall the software on your Dell computer and make it fully functional. If you do not have any recovery disks, you can contact Dell for a set. Be aware they sometimes will charge a fee to provide you with these disks.

Hope this helps

NOT ABLE TO INSTALL WINDOW XP

Hi meetabdullah,

Have a nice day.

If you're running Windows XP and your computer software crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run Windows XP recovery to reestablish your software and make your computer usable once again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery disk, but you can download one for free. The Windows XP recovery disk holds almost all of the computer software and files that came loaded with your PC and can assist you in rebuilding your hard drive.

Here are some instructions that somehow could help you:

1.Place a formatted disk in your disk drive. Click on the "Download a Windows XP recovery disk from Microsoft" link in Resources below. Click "Download." Then click "Save." Find your disk drive on the menu and click "OK."

2. Remove the disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete, and place it in the computer on which you need to use it.

3.Shut down your computer; then turn your computer back on. Your computer will automatically start up running on the Windows XP recovery disk, which will allow you to install Windows XP once again.

The hard disk has been corrupted. You will need to completely format it and reinstall Windows using a separate install disk. Either obtain from Samsung a recovery cd or borrow a generic install disk from someone and reinstall using it and the key on the sticker.

AC'97 Audio Codecs Blue screen of death on install please help me fix this problem thanks dell dimension 2350

This usually means your HD has a virus. It could be a boot virus. The best way to get rid of it is to completely reinstall your OS. When you turn on your computer put in your OS software or recovery software (if software recovery does not work you will have to put on new version of OS from another disk). After you put the disk in, restart your computer and hit Enter when the screen prompts to Boot from CD...
If this does not work, you can purchase a anti-boot virus software from your local comp store, otherwise you may need a new HD. But try reinstalling the OS from scratch, that is the best way.
