The fan on my space heater (small appliance - honeywell #hz-2300)came off. I'd like to open the unit to re-attach the fan. The screw heads look like triangles. Regular and phillips screwdrivers do nothing. Is there a special tool / screwdriver I can buy?

The screws you have encountered are provided to prevent entry into the unit and were invented by Admiral Electronics about 30 years ago. They are a real pain.
You can get an adaptor that will fit a 1/4" spin-tight socket wrench at most electronic houses and even some hardware stores.
My advice is to pick up some standard screws from the hardware store and replace these things if you intend to work on the unit.
