Question about Sony ICD-MX20 Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

Sony ICD-UX70 Voice Recorder freezes when load bar gets near end.

I have a Sony ICD-UX70. It's a cool little voice recorder, except now when I turn it on, the load bar stops like a pixel before it's done, and the thing never proceeds to being "on" so I can use it. It still functions as a USB-accessible hard drive, and all my previously saved audio recordings are there. But otherwise, I can't use it. And I can't seem to figure out how to reset it.

I have exactly the same problem. I still have my recorded files on there buit it doiesnt start anymore. i dont mind if all recrodings get deleted when resetting as i have copied them on my harddrive anyway but i reall need to record again. so if someonw knows the solution please let me know

No solution, but I've experienced the same problem, and I believe it's caused by renaming files on the recorder itself. So once it gets fixed, make sure to only rename files after they're copied to local storage, and leave the names alone on the recorder, since it will confuse the poor thing.

I have the same problem. I can no longer use the thing.  I just emailed sony, but I don't have a lot of faith in them coming through...

The same problem happened on mine twice. I just had to change the batteries, turn DPC off, and play with the buttons, press STOP, PLAY and STOP until the freezing has stopped. Then it will prompt you to set the time and date. Hope that helps :)

Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

If you press and hold down the "menu" button scroll down to the FORMAT selection and press enter. This will reformat the device.
I had the same problem - I think it arose after disconnecting the IC Recorder when it became unresponsive with the computer.
Make sure you transfer all your files first to a computer or back up source.
