It depends upon which brand of BIOS is in your computer.
Generally in most cases, the beep code you are getting relates to the video. If your computer is a desktop then It is either faulty or the video card is not seated properly in the expansion slot.
If the video is part of the motherboard (this also applies to a laptop) then it is faulty and it is usually unrepairable or a new motherboard replacement is required.
If the video card is in the desktop computer, then it can be replaced with a new one.

The sequence of one long beep and two short beep when starting computer usually means problem in your display adapter. Make sure your VGA connector is connected properly to VGA out port.
If you are using VGA card (non on-board), you might want to make sure that the card is inserted properly to motherboard.
The beep indicates that system can not initialize display.

On startup there is 4 beeps then 2 then nothing. The laptop belongs to my grandouther.the power coard was frade,so my guess is that's where the problem started.

Beep codes are used by the BIOS during the POST to report certain initial system errors.
If you're hearing beep codes after you turn your computer on, it typically means that the system has encountered some kind of problem before it was able to display any kind of error information on the monitor.
Follow the steps below to determine what system problem the beep code is representing.
Difficulty: Average Time Required: Anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours depending on the cause of the beep code Here's How:
  1. Power on the computer or restart it if it's already on.
  2. Listen very carefully to the beep codes that sound when the computer begins to boot.
Restart your computer if you need to hear the beeping again. You're not likely to make whatever problem you have worse by restarting a few times.
  3. Write down, in whatever way makes sense to you, how the beeps sound.
Important: Pay close attention to the number of beeps, if the beeps are long or short and if the beeping repeats or not. There is a big difference between a "beep-beep-beep" beep code and a "beep-beep" beep code.
This is all important information that will help determine what issue the beep codes are representing.
  4. What steps you take to solve a particular beep code will differ depending on the BIOS manufacturer.
Choose the correct beep code troubleshooting guide below based on your motherboard's BIOS manufacturer:
Tip: Not sure what brand of BIOS is on your motherboard? See this How to Determine Your Motherboard BIOS Manufacturer guide for some helpful advice.

How can i fix my IBM ThinkPad T22 2647. it produce 3 simultaniuos beep sounds lcd is black out.

This is a list of ThinkPad Beep codes.
It appears you have a memory or motherboard problem, most likely a RAM problem. Try reseating the RAM modules, if this doesn't work, then remove the RAM and take them to your friendly computer repair shop to get them to test the RAM modules for you. If the RAM is faulty them replace.

Problem for HP HP Pavilion dv2000 15.4" Notebook Laptop PC The power is OK but I get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps when switching on, the screen remains blank and no activity on the laptop

Disconnect all devices from the power supply EXCEPT the motherboard
Remove any extra cards including video etc.(plug monitor into the onboard)

If you hear any beeps these can indictate where the fault is.
either of these sites below will help you further with that

Beep codes Pc

More beep codes

Power up the pc and see if the fans are working.
If not then double check the power connections to the board.

If you still have no fans it is time to suspect the power supply as the probable cause.

If the fans worked then you should have gotten a display which told you there was an error and offering you a chance to go into the BIOS. ignore it and shut down the PC.

Now connect one drive only and boot again.

Repeat that until you identify the component that is giving you a problem.

Once you find the problem then remove or disconnect and carry on with the rest to see if another component might also cause a problem

If there is only one problem device then you may want to investigate that device further, Unless you don't mind replacing it
Hope this gives you the information you need

System not booting

Try power cycling the laptop by taking the battery out and pressing the power button 10 times. On the 10th time, hold it down for 10 seconds. Put the battery back in and attempt to boot the laptop.

If that doesn't work, listen for a cooling fan when you attempt to boot the laptop. If you don't hear the fan, it's likely that the motherboard is malfunctioning somewhere.

Do you hear any beep codes when you try to turn it on? Here is a list of beep codes for reference:

No Beeps: Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
One Beep: Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
Two Beeps: POST/CMOS Error
One Long Beep, One Short Beep: Motherboard Problem
One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps: Video Problem
One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps: Video Problem
Three Long Beeps: Keyboard Error
Repeated Long Beeps: Memory Error
Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps: CPU Overheating
Hope this helps! Good luck!
