Hey there Guru, Consul GAS fridge " NO electrical connection".
From my own investigation it would seem that the problem is a) faulty or dirty burner jet. (( unlikely as the flame seems good)) b)blockage in coolant pipes.( Would the freezer still work?) or my favourite c) Broken thermostat (not electric.not electric) quoted $389.00 au Think I'll buy a new fridge !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system.

    Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks for pointing that little tid bit of info (GAS). I better read these post a little closer. Even with gas the evaporator coils should have a light coat of frost all over, if not then there is a blockage or it is low on coolant.

Fridge Freezer not cold

Is there a fan inside the freezer compartment to direct cold air to the fridge? Check it's working. If not fanned, check rear wall of fridge. If not cold, unit may be short of gas.

FRS26R4CB0-Freezer not freezing and Fridge not getting Cool

Hi Candi,

I don't know this model but most friges are the same,
Check on the bottom back, there should be a radiator with a small fan
installed.

If the fan is not working this maybe your problem,
It is not colling the gas.

You also may have a gas leak or the gas compressor is not working
or starting to work because of a faulty capcacitor.

Consul 3-way fridge. hasn't been going for a couple of years. Gas is getting thru and it ignites with a whoosh of flame but doesn't maintain ignition. Can you help?

First verify the fridge works on AC/DC prior to repairing the gas feature. If it is not working on AC/DC it may not be worth repairing. (works on convection and the fluid may have boiled, evaporated or become a solid) The most likely cause of the flame not remaining lit is a faulty or dirty thremo couple. This unit verify' the pilot is lit and maintains fuel to the pilot. In a case where the pilot blows out it stops the flow of gas. If it is dirty or worn out it will not allow the pilot to remain lit. It is likely a steel looking "rod" within the flame path of the pilot light. Try cleaning with a scotch brite pad.

Fridge not cold and freezer working like a fridge

Check temp setting. Freezer temp is -14*f to 8*F and Fridge temp is 36*F to 46*F
As per your statement seems to be chock in thew system. Check for whistling sound in freezer. If not check gas pressure by keeping arm in condenser coil. If warm, gas is o.k. but chock is confirmed.
Remove all gas, flush out system. Vacuum and do gas charging. Thanks.
