Question about Apple PowerBook G4 Mac Notebook

1 Answer

My mac has begun beeping

The beep is low and constant.  It is not at startup and sometimes goes away.  It has nothing to do with the clock noises or being too close to a cell phone.  I want to check the hardware but don't know how.  What do I  do?

search the web with the number of beeps you're getting. The most usual beeping is from the RAM being loose.

3 x beeps means there is a problem with the memory, either it needs reseating, replacing or a problem with the slots on the logic board.

My Macbook Air made "beep

The bios on the machine hardware has failed to book.
You could try plugging in machine and ensure battery is charged.
Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds.
also the other thing is to immediately after you press the power button.
hold these 4 keys at same time continuously - cmd, alt, P, R
hopefully machine will power up and down and up again if you keep holding them.

My apple macbook won't start and continuously keeps on giving a beep sound.

the beep pre-boot is signaling a kernel panic. It could be bad ram or something else, it's hard to tell without hearing the beep (they signify different things)
1 beep = no RAM installed

2 beeps = incompatible RAM types

3 beeps = no good banks

4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)

5 beeps = processor is not usable

taken from
So depending on the beep, it means different things. However in any case I'd suggest taking it to an Apple Authorized Repair Facility. Unless you feel comfortable with assessing the proper solution on your own
Good Luck.

My friends laptop is beeping constantly and the screen won't show anything.

was new memory just installed? If so check if you have to correct memory for the make and model of the computer. resitting (ie. take the memory out and put it back it) the memory module can also fix something like this.

Mac froze, will not re-boot

3 beeps means that it's not detecting the ram cards. It could be you have a bad ram card or simply need to remove and reseat them back into their slots.
