Windows xp does not install

If your hard disk is a SATA disk then -
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

My dasktop doesn't completely load windows xp setup

hi, did you run the upgrade adviser, before running xp set up? this will tell you any upgrades or possible problems you may have. it is probably a hardware compatibility, as the aging p3 systems would have. if you can, go back with the older operating system, then run upgrade adviser, you may be able to correct he issue, i still have a pentium 2 450,that i put xp on years ago-it runs great for a p2-so it is not impossible to do.also did you do a quick or full format in the fat or ntfs, do full, and try the fat format for that p3. hope this helps you, good luck! need more help post again.

Help with a system shut down?

Hi, does it let you get into windows then give you a 60sec countdown if it does, its a virus. its kinda easy to fix this one,
Once its into windows click start button, click run then type
shutdown -a (press enter)
this should stop the countdown
you need to download or install a new virus checker,
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Panda-Antivirus-Titanium.shtml
this one is good and lasts 30days free,
Remove viruses and should work fine..

Have a good christmas

John

Ps you will have to do the run, shutdown -a everytime the countdown appears until the virus is removed...
