Here is the link for the product information guide (user manual)if you need it; page 11 for epsons answer. if the product is under warranty (details on same link) then best to contact them. If out of warranty, if you wish then try to push the carriage to one end or other gently by hand (turn off first) you will be able to see if the toothed belt and it's pulleys move normally, if you are able to push it all the way to the side, see if this solves the problem, checking if it is catching on anything. else i suspect the drive motor or one of it's gears is to blame, which is probably best replaced by an authorised service centre. although on the uk epson site they don't show support for your model, contact them for local service facilities Hope this helps :)

As soon as I started using recycled ink cartridges, I started getting a paper jam error on my printer. The control panel message instructs me to remove the back panel and clear paper jam. I've done this several times but there is no paper to clear and the message keeps coming back. I've tried turning of the printer and unplugging it to clear the memory, but that doesn't help. Could it be that the chip on the ink cartridge is messing with the printer's operating system?

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Dear Sir,

plzz folow this step to solved your problem

  • Step 1 Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
  • Step 2 Turn off the printer.
  • Step 3 Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  • Step 4 Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  • Step 5 If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
  • Step 6clear-printer-paper-1.6-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href',''); }); If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  • Step 7clear-printer-paper-1.7-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep7 span.image a:first').attr('href',''); }); If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.
  • Step 8 Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  • Step 9 If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path

  • Thanks For Your Time,

Hello there this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

If there is no jam it is generally a mechanical issue such as...

    1. The planetary arm assembly not engaged correctly
    2. Ink cartridge/purge switch harness not connected correctly
    3. Purge cam switch broken
    4. Gear(s) on maintenance unit broken
    5. Paper feed motor broken
    6. Main PCB defective

I find that if there was a paper jam, and the user pulled the paper out, option 4 is most likely. It is the smallest of cracks but ruins everything!

I keep getting an error (81:01)

The problem refers to basically a paper jam. I thing your problem could however be the carrage movment. There is a special oil required for the carrage, but failid this use a very thin oil such as sewing machine oil. The trick is to not use too much oil, only a drop or two over the entire length of the carrage. Also needs to be oiled is UNDER the rail towards the back. Look carefully at the back of the carrage where it has the back slider. This rail needs to be clean and lubricated. Probable easier to clean and lubricate if you remove the encoder strip.
