Question about Compaq Matrox Millenium G450 DualHead (16 MB) Graphic Card

Matrox Millenium G450 lost settings when rebooted

Hi
I have above card running with driver 5.99.5.0 driving a Phillips 220CW which wants its resolution set to 1680 x1050 for best viewing.
If I boot normally, I see the intro screen with the correct resolution until Windows (XP SP3) loads the drivers at which result in garbled screen.
Only fix I know is to reboot F8 to VGA, and go in and change resolution back to 1680 x 1050. Next reboot settings are gone and screen is garbled.

Any help much appreciated.
TIA
Ian B

Everything you described is consistent with the graphics card or drivers not supporting that resolution. Verify you are using the latest drivers available from the Matrox Website.

Ryan,

Sounds like a nice setup you have going there, but the TV is going to be fussy about resolution. You need to plug in a regular monitor to adjust the resolution to something higher than 800x600, preferably 1280x720, make sure the screen comes back up on the monitor, then reboot the computer with your tv plugged in.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks.

I updated driver for Matrox450 and screen is now black

Instead of safe mode or LKG, try VGA mode. Then roll back the driver.

FYI - It helps if you post your OS.

Matrox G450 and DX9 support.

The Matrox Millenium G450 is a DirectX 6 video card, so it doesn't support the features of DirectX 9, hence, there is no way to make it work. You will need to get a newer video card.
