Kenmore dryer model #86870100 runs but no heat

Runs thru the whole cycle but does not heat at all

The exhaust hose came off yesterday. I reattached it and worked fine. Worked fine today as well and now is not heating at all. I see the post that says that it is the small and large doors or flaps or something. How do I fix this...?

This kit mounts on the heater element chamber. The small one will be open. The big one failed also because it is rated to shut down @250°F. The little guy is rated at 300°F. NOTE: when this limit fails it is a sure sign of a blockage of lint somewhere.kenmore dryer model #86870100 runs but no heat - 8e8a912.jpg

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

86870100 Kenmore dryer won't heat but goes through cycle

Dear Diane Bassett,

I recently had a problem of the exact nature. The answer to your second question is yes, these are awkwardly located at the rear of the machine, so you will have to pull the dryer out from its recess. isolate the dryer from the mains for an hour or so, press the reset button in for a few seconds and you should be fine.

If that doesnt solve the issue, then your thermostat is up dawsons' creek without a paddle.

Anway I hope this is the fixya for you and I look forward to hearing how you get on with this.

Yours sincerely

Hi Ginko. I have a Kenmore dryer model 11086810100 that has some wires removed from inside. The only HOT I can find is the red wire. I have 2 wires that have femals push-on crimped terminals, but I have no...

Hi Robert.

Thanks for the pics. I operate in UK and color codes here are different.
From what I can see the wiring in your picture does not match the US standard either.
The thermal fuse for example should have two blue terminals, not red and blue. The thermal fuse wires goes on one side to start, and on the other to the drive motor through the broken belt switch (if present).
The wiring at the blower must be revised and done again.

Here a service manual covering Kenmore 70 series dryers.
There is a wiring diagram at page 25.

Here a picture showing correct wiring:

See also the pictures in this blog:

About the red and yellow cable, the only red yellow wire in the diagram operates the switch for the guard function. The wire becomes hot and powers the motor when the guard switch is closed.

Parts (including wiring harness and terminals) are available here:

My grandmothers dryer wont heat up. It is a Kenmore, (model) 86870100, with (serial no.) MX1661182. Would like to know how i would know for sure if it is either the element or a fuse.

you will need to open the dryer and look at the element, if you have a meter you will need to ohm it out, but more then likely the thermal fuse is bad. In order to test, test only after test disconnect the bypass, you will need to bypass the fuse: take the two spaded ends off the thermal fuse and tape them together then turn dryer on if you have heat you will need to replace fuse, can be purchased online. eBay is the cheapest but can be purchase from a appliance sales/repair shop, Tim:

I have a Lady Kenmore electric dryer (40 years old maybe?), model 110 6508923, which I cleaned the vents, strong air, tumbles fine. The heating element glows orange for a few moments, then as it finally...

The element is supposed to cycle on and off thru out the drying cycle as not to burn clothes. Is it just taking too long to dry. If it is your exhaust from the wall behind the dryer to the outside is clogged somehow. I like to use a leaf blower stuck inside the exhaust behind the dryer and blow the whole line out to the outside of the home.

Kenmore 72602100 gas dryer runs but no heat

gas dryers would have an igniter to start the flame. check it first to see if its still ok. be carefull in handling them, they are very fragile. check also for availability of gas. could have a closed valve.
