I loaded the desktop disc that came with the pda but couldn't get it to sync when it promted part way through the install. I then went online to try to get a version for Vista and downloaded Access 6.2 I think. Same problem. The computer stated it was looking for a driver for the device then stopped on waiting for user input. I attempted to hotsync but the the pda and computer weren't talking. What can I do?

Re: Can't sync palm tx with new vista based desktop
You can try doing this steps in solving the problem....
Open your hardware manager, turn on your palm, and tell your palm to
initiate a hotsync. Look for a device with a question mark or
exclamation mark next to it, or look for a device matching something to
the effect of Palm.
While the Palm device is connected, select that device, and uninstall
the driver for it. Then tell it to install the driver, but this time,
you need to specify where the driver comes from. The location should be

Unless I'm not understanding your question, any entries that you delete from either the desktop or PDA will delete from the other device when you sync your PDA.
So, if you delete an item from your Palm desktop, the next time you sync your PDA to your desktop, the entry will be deleted from your PDA as well.
But, if you haven't backed up / synced your PDA to your desktop yet, install and run Hotsync Manager - do that first. And, perform that procedure often so that your info on your PDA will be safe on your desktop.
assuming that you use your palm tx on a windows xp system, files from the emails could be corrupted. are you using palm desktop or outlook?
if you are using palm desktop, you can rename the back-up folder to old and try to resync
Palm was having trouble supporting but there is a new desktop available for the TX on Vista as well as Apple OS X. I don't know how well that machine will sync to both desktops though. It's probably a good idea to sync it on one machine or the other.
Sounds like your PDA is not communicating with the desktop software properly. (is it a refurbished unit?). I would recommend you un-install the desktop software completely, then do a hard reset on the unit. This should start you from scratch. Then, re-install the software and re-boot the TX and configure it, and try a brand new sync. If this doesn't help, you might have to return it. But first, try it with the desktop software on a DIFFERENT computer.
i had that problem too. sorry it is bugging you. i know you probably want to sync your data rught now. So for now try to disable the syncing of documents to go (just for now) on palm desktop, look for the conduits and temporarily disable the syncing of docs to go. Also ensure you plug in your pda charger as well as the usb cable (I found out this helps through experience) and sync. (Just to back it up)
as for the documents to go, there is probably a file(document) that is generating the errors. please look through documents to go on your palm desktop and remove any file you feel is not necessary. also take note that it is best if your pda has some free memory on it. you may want to save those documents on a disk (If you are not already that is..) clearing up ram made my tx more stable esp during hot sync.
please let me know it that worked for you. i still have some suggestions good luck and enjoy
