Zoom x6 dsl modem disconnects

I have a zoom x6 modem that is about 8 months old. I can get on line ok but I get disconnected after about 20 mins. I would like to get this fixed. I had the ISP out the other day they say the line is good. The computer is about 1 year old and is running on vista. I only get disconnected on the desktop and not the laptop.
Thanks
Jon

SOURCE: zoom x6 modem disconnect

If you only get disconnected on the desktop, the problem is the desktop.

You can try removing network card from device manager and installing it back, try also logging in with a different user name and disabling eventual firewalls.

Fastest way to get rid of problems of this kind is by reinstalling windows, and if it does not work getting a replacement network card, or connecting the PC wireless.

If you have a spare wireless LAN Usb adapter, try connecting the PC on wireless.

I Have zoom adsl x6 and it disconnects after a couple of minutes.

You got to check for some kind of interference in your area.
Maybe a cordless phone, etc...
You can try changing the channel your wireless router is using.
To do that, you must log in into the Main Menu inside the wireless router itself.
For instructions, look in the manual.

Zoom x6 installation

you can get a spliter for the phone line. but that will not prevent the modem cutoff when the phone ring. or vs verse. the best thing to do is get a switch or control box that will automatically terminate one when you are on the computer or on the phone.

DSL light flashing constantly

Hi,

I had the same problem to begin with. Here is what the Zoom helpdesk suggested:
"To force the dsl light to stop blinking, please follow these steps.

1) Open up your web browser and type 10.0.0.2 in the address bar. Type in the the username and password to log in to the modem.
username: admin
password: zoomadsl

2) When you get to the address bar, Click on advance setup.

3) Click on ADSL Configuration.

4) Change the standard to G.Dmt and change the activate line to Start.

5) Save changes and then write settings to flash.

Within a 1 or 2 minutes, the dsl light should go solid."

This worked for me. Good luck.

Zoom X6 internet light constantly red

the internet light, is usually a blinking green, showing that it's seeing the internet signal. The only reason it's red, is cause there's no net signal..double check the phone line going into the back of your router, and change it if you need to.

Zoom x6 router

Well for most zoom X6 routers I saw it's

http://10.0.0.2

That should take you to the main page. The manual is located here for X6 models.

http://www.zoom.com/techsupport/adsl/adsl_x6.shtml

In the manual it's on page 13. I would download a copy of the manual and read it as well.
