Question about RCA P61960 61" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

TV has a mind of its own

Television will not turn on automatically using the remote or manually(pushing power button on tv). It takes a couple of trys to get it on and once it is on the menu screen automatically pops up in spanish and it will not go away. It's like the tv has a mind of its own. I manually press the buttons on the tv and it does not do the function I selected. For example, if I press the volume button the channel will turn and if I press the power button (to turn it off) the menu screen will come up or some red numbers and letters that read: P O 1.2 V O Any advice?

I have the same thing as the above,it is just the same thing.I cannot use the remote,so I bought a new remote. It worked once and then it would not work any longer. To turn it on manually you must first hit menu on the front panel then on or off,the same to turn it off. The same code shows on the screen as the above after being on for a while. garykindell@comcast.net

The front panel buttons are your trouble, you can disconnect these, first unplug the unit and remove the back cover, just below the top screws you can look under and see the top of the pictures tubes,in front of the middle tube is a small board, unplug the top right cable, this will disconnect the front buttons and you can use your remote to control the set, hope this helps

hi,hard to push bottons on TV manual controls usually happens because they are not use for a long time carbon accumulates inside the switches. You can just use a contact cleaner spray (windex) just spay it directly to the button and press repeatedly until dry..good luck1

A friend gave us a 52 in sony television, but she can't find the remote since it is still packet away from moving. I am looking for a code to try our Philips Univeral remote. The Mode # is KPR-53CX35.

Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

Note:
• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.
