Question about Dell Inspiron 8200 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop that won?t boot. The battery is dead (the latch broke shortly after I bought it), and it is plugged into the wall using the original power cord. There are three indicator lights ? the circle power light, a cylinder, and a battery. When I press and hold the power button, the power and cylinder lights light up (green) and there is a whirring sound. Also, the number and caps lock indicator lights flash green once. When the whirring sound shuts off (after a few seconds), the battery light blinks green, then orange (alternating). The visible fans in the back do not turn on. The green lights stay on and the battery light continues to blink green and orange, but nothing comes up on the screen. I have tried vacuuming the vents, unplugging to make it think there was a power outage, and reseating the memory. I bought a new laptop a few months ago, and kept putting off transferring my data because the old laptop was so finicky (this has happened for a while, but I usually get it to turn on after 10-20 tries). All I need off the old laptop is my address book and a TON of pictures of my kids (they are 4 and 2 and I don?t back up as often as I should). I recently moved to a small town, and I don?t know of anywhere I could take the laptop to get help with it (not in time to send Christmas cards anyway). Thank you!

Remove the battery and try it on AC only. A failed battery can keep it from powering on.

Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

Battery won?t charge and AC adaptor not recognized

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that just turned two years old.

After one year, my dell 6-cell battery started to falter, so Ipurchased a new 9-cell battery. This worked fine until a couple ofmonths ago when I noticed that my 65W adaptor was frayed. I bought anew 65W Dell Inspiron 6000 ac adapter andit worked well for about a week until I noticed that my battery wasn’tcharging at times. If I was patient, or unplugged the adapter andplugged it back in, the battery began charging and all was saved.

This lasted only a short time until my Dell Inspiron 6000 batterywouldn’t charge at all for long periods of time, and sometimes thecomputer wouldn’t turn on, even if plugged into the wall. I thought itmight still be the adaptor, so I borrowed a fully functioning 90W Delladapter from a family member to test the system. This worked better, but still not great.

When I removed the battery and started only fromAC power, the functionality was also intermittent. Usually, if thecomputer actually started, I received the start-up error “The Inspiron 6000 AC AdapterType could not be determined, etc. etc. etc.” After pressing F1, thecomputer booted, but if the battery wasn’t in, the computer didn’tusually last long before shutting off. Unsure if maybe the battery wasthe problem, I put the 6-cell Inspiron 6000 batteryback in, and it too wouldn’t charge, although (together with the 90Wadapter) my computer would at least start more consistently if pluggedin. The error remained however, and sometimes the system stopsrecognizing power and switches to my ever dwindling battery power untilthe adapter is recognized again.

The problem is with the jack on the motherboard inside our Inspiron 6000’s. This is the jack you plug your power plug into on the back of the laptop.

Somehow the jack gets worn and does not make correct contact withthe laptop so the Laptop does not see the power supply as a legit Dellbrand. So the powersupply will not charge the laptop battery and run the laptop at the same time.

Modern laptops are all sold with built-in wireless laptop ac adapter. Some power notebooks used by corporate road warriors will have powerfulcellular adapters that connect the laptop to the Internet via the cellphone infrastructure

A bad connection between DC-IN power jack on the system board and the system board is a very common problem with dell pa 12,dell e1505 and Dell Inspiron 6000notebooks. If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix theproblem by resoldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it’s stillunder warranty, it would be fixed at no charge to you. Problem symptoms:

  • Laptop randomly shuts down without any warning.
  • Power LED and battery charge LED start flickering when you wigglethe power cord or the AC adapter tip on the back or your laptop.
  • The battery will not get charged.
  • When you plug ac adapter for laptop, the laptop appears to be dead and there is no LED * activity at all (DC-IN jack on the system board is broken).
To fix the problem, you have to take your laptop apart, remove the system board to resoleder or replace the DC-IN jack. dell pa 12 and Dell Inspiron 6000 disassembly guides will help you to remove the system board. Take a closer look at the power jack on the system laptop board witha magnifying glass. In most cases you get the power problem because ofa bad connection between the DC jack and the system board, you’ll see acrack between the DC jack connector and the system board.

My dell inspiron mini 10 won't boot. There is just a flash of white light then a flash of amber light when I press the power button. That's it, nothing else.

Remove the main battery and try again, also! the power adapter charger should be checked for correct voltage, if okay! pull one stick of ram and test, and the second piece not forgetting to put the first one back and power up, if all this fails you will need to get it assessed.

Laptop Battery Won T Charge on a laptop dell inspiron 1525

Battery could be dead and won't hold another charge. Batteries only last for so long until you have to replace them. If you laptop is ok with the AC Adapter & Power Cord meaning it boots and allows you to work in windows, then the battery is definitely dead.

Take the battery out and try with AC only, if no change, then you will likely need a motherboard replacement

My new itouch will not boot up. It just seems to be dead

Check the wall outlet where the Power Transformer is plugged in and verify that it has current by using a lamp or something like that. If ok, then...
Check the laptop battery for charge state. The indicater light should show full or good charge. If not, the battery could be dead....
If no current from the adapter, the battery goes dead in 2-3 hours of use.

Dell Inspiron 8200 Battery

I assume that you have your charger plugged in as long as you use the laptop...

There are very minimal chances o the battery having been damaged, since the casing on the inspiron 8200 is quite sturdy.. i suggest you get the charge socket (the socket that leads to the main wall electricity outlet) from a qualified technician...

Since it has sat dead for so long, it's certain the bios battery is drained. The bios battery is a small rechargable Nimh inside the laptop, and if you leave the laptop plugged in for a day or two it may come to life for you. I can't say for sure though if that battery will prevent the unit from booting at all or not, but I would try it.

DELL INSPIRON 1000

Try the following:

1. Try to boot the notebook with both battery and adaptor attached.

2. Try to boot with ONLY the battery.

3. Try to boot with ONLY the adapter.

If you can't boot with only the adapter, the adapter has died. If you can't boot with only the battery, the battery is dead.

But as stated above, make sure your battery is sufficiently charged.

In case of a dead battery or adapter, check whether the device is still under warranty. Contact HP if so.

Let me know what you found out.
